Band Pro Unveils New Line of IB/E Macro Cine Lenses!

Band Pro announced three new PL mount Cine lenses that can be adapted to Nikon F Canon EF and Sony E-mount. Here is the full press text:

B/E President, Klaus Eckerl and Band Pro President & CEO, Amnon Band unveiled a new line of professional APO Macro FF lenses at Band Pro’s One World Open House event on December 10th, 2015.
The new macro lenses were designed to address the industry-wide movement toward larger format sensors (including RED Weapon 6K and 8K, Sony A7, and ARRI ALEXA 65 cameras). These larger sensors deliver a convincing film-look and interesting bokeh due to their very shallow depth of field, and require lenses that can cover their larger camera sensor sizes.
The new APO Macro FF lens family consists of 3 focal lengths: 100mm, 150mm, and 180mm. The lenses feature full frame (24mm x 36mm) coverage, 1:1 magnification, consistent T-stop T2.9, as well as robust and durable cine mechanics. Based in Germany, IB/E is a globally respected optics manufacturer known for cutting edge expanders, adapters, and lenses, including the new Arri 65 lenses.
APO Macro FF lenses will be available Summer 2016.
Amnon noted at the event: “Today’s announcement is a continuation of what Band Pro has always done. From the early days of Zeiss DigiPrimes, to our involvement with the Leica Summilux-C project, to the new IB/E Macro FF lenses, Band Pro has always lead the way for embracing new technologies.”

To preorder the new APO Macro FF lens set, or for more information, please contact Band Pro at 1-888-BAND-PRO or by emailing sales@bandpro.com .

Samsung patents a superslim NX lens!

SamsungNX

Weeks ago we reported how Samsung will now focus on “emerging” photo camera markets while the more “classic” system camera development could be gone forever. Recently we spotted many new patents describing smartphone devices with NX mount module (article here). And today we spotted another new patent describing a superslim lens that could perfectly fit those kind of devices.

The advantage of such a sim lens os that it would still keep the “pocketability” of the smartphone.

Below is another patent design shwoing the NX mount at work on a smartphone. On that image you see a different and larger lens (not the same lens we spotted today).

Sigma announces a new kind of water-repellent and scratch resistant Ceramic Glass filter

Sigma launched a new water-repellent and scratch resistant Ceramic Glass filter. This is the official press text:

Interchangeable lenses are the most important element of photographic expression, and to the photographer they are a valuable personal asset. To help photographers continue to use for many years the lens systems in which they have invested their time, knowledge, and budgets, SIGMA has developed original lens filters that meet the company’s high standards of excellence. In developing its new protective lens filter, SIGMA has leveraged an unprecedented cooperative relationship with a glass manufacturer, resulting in a completely new type of glass called Clear Glass Ceramic. Featuring this advanced material, the SIGMA WR CERAMIC PROTECTOR is a highly reliable filter with outstanding protective capability.

With many applications in aerospace and other industries, glass ceramic is an extremely tough type of crystallized glass that serves as the foundation for Clear Glass Ceramic. While featuring the high transmittance required of optical devices, this advanced new material combines greater hardness than chemically strengthened glass and greater flexibility than sapphire crystal glass. These qualities make Clear Glass Ceramic the ideal material for protective lens filters.
