New June report from CIPA: System camera shipements stable, compact shipments still dropping

Today CIPA released the JUNE worldwide camera shipment report from Japanese manufacturers. Basically three trends get confirmed:
1) The system camera sales (DSLR+mirrorless) are no stable
2) Mirrorless sales trend is still doin better than DSLR
3) Compact camera sales are still dropping

Nikon FF mirrorless versis Nikon D7000 size comparison
23 days to go until Nikon will announce their first new Full Frame mirrorless camera. On top you can see an attempted size comparison between the new mirrorless (paper model) and the Nikon D7000 DSLR camera.
Canon SX740 compact camera announced
Canon announced the new PowerShot SX740 HS. It will ship in August for $399. Full specs and preorders at Bhphoto.
I know I know folks, that’s not the news you want to hear from Canon ritgh now. Don’t worry, there is a much bigger announcement coming the second week of September ;)

Nikkei confirms new Nikon FF will be announced in August 23. Says Canon is “advancing development rapidly” too.

The well informed japanese magazine Nikkei confirmed the August 23 announcement date for the new Nikon FF mirrorless. They also said Canon is “advancing development rapidly” too. It’s rumored Canon will answer to Nikon with a press event in early September.

Nikon announces development of next generation full-frame mirrorless camera

This is a bit odd. Today Nikon announced the “development” of a new FF mirrorless. I hope this doens’t mean we will now have to wait a long time to see the first real camera… Here is the press text:
