Samsung NX1 does 4K and comes at Photokina!

Back in January Samsung unveiled that a new NX1 flagship camera would come this year (article here). And now Photorumors reports that this camera will shoot 4K video and feature a new 28 Megapixel APS-C sensor.

After the GH4 and Sony A7s this would become the third mirrorless camera shooting 4K. But I think more companies (Canon, Olympus for example) will announce 4K cameras at Photokina.

I am a bit surprised to hear the camera will feature a 28 MP sensor. It would become the highest resolution APS-C camera to date. And unlike the GH4 and A7s such a sensor could show more moiree and issues on 4K videos. Or did Samsung find a way to solve that problem?

Debunking a myth: Mirrorless cameras now have superb autofocus performance that can (almost) match those of much more expensive DSLR.

You know what they say: DSLR still is more “professional” when it comes to autofocus performance compared to those cheaper mirrorless camera. But how much of that is truth and how much is myth?

TheCameraStoreTV team compared the best mirrorless cameras against the best (and 4-5 times more expensive) Nikon D4s. You will be surprised to hear the conclusions. Watch the video!

A great new Leica lens gets announced without buzz! 28mm f/1.4 Summilux.

How would a product announcement be without any marketing work? Well, that’s exactly what happened today at Leica. They shared this pic of a new Leica Summilux 28mm f/1.4 lens during a “normal” visit of the LeicaCameraForum members in Wetzlar (Leica’s headquarter in Germany).

No specs, no price and no shipping date info have been released other than that picture. It’s will certainly be a great (and exepensive) masterpiece!

First real competition for the Sony RX100M3 coming in July 3 (The Fuji X30).

A couple of days ago we told you the Fuji X20 has been discontinued. According to rumors floating around mysteriously (LOL) on the web the new Fuji X30 will be announced on July 3. And it’s the first camera that will match the Sony RX100 series 1 inch sensor size. It’s going to be an X-Trans sensor and also priced cheaper than the new Sony RX100M3 ($798 here at Amazon). Well that sounds good! It may forces Sony to lower their prices too!

Fuji will use Sony’s 50 Megapixel sensor to launch a medium format and fixed lens camera this summer!

I bet you didn’t see coming this: Fuji partnering with Sony to create a digital medium format mirrorless and fixed lens camera!

The Fuji branded and Sony sensor powered camera will be launched this Summer (likely in August). It could look close to the current to the Fuji GF670 film camera. It could also uses Fuji X-PRO 1 hybrid viewfinder tech. Quite a big news! Wondering if there is a market for such a camera…
