That is not an April fools joke: Modified Sigma DP with interchangeable M-mount!

I long asked Sigma to make a DP series with interchangeable lens mount. And someone in China listened to me :)

Over at Taobab (translation here) they are selling modified Sigma DP cameras with an M-mount!!! You have to send in your Sigma DP camera and for1880.00 Yuan ($300 or 230 Euro) they will add you the M-mount. And they plan to add more mounts in future! Sounds great! Will let you know if some of these cameras hit on eBay. Meantime…meditate Sigma..meditate… and give us a serious mirrorless and interchangeable system with an excellent new generation of foveon sensors!

Nikon A outclasses the rest of the high end compacts (X100s may be the exception).

DxOmark (Click here) published the full Nikon A sensor test results. The Nikon beats all other tested High End Compact cameras. But it has to be said the the brand new X100s hasn’t been tested yet. I guess the Fuji will outclass even the Nikon A.

The Coolpix A shipments just started at Amazon (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here). And the Fuji X100s is also shipping at Amazon (Click here).

Fuji X100s shipping at Amazon US.

X100s vs RX1 size compairson by Mike Kobal

After more than two months of waiting the first X100s US preorders are shipping at Amazon US (Click here). A few hours ago it was even amrked as “in Stock” for a short time. There are already first User Reviews (Click here to read them).

But how good is the new X100s? If you have a lot of time to spend on Internet than check out that list of tests: Zackarias, Dpreview Studio comparison, ePhotozine review, Mike Kobal, Rico Pfirstinger.

The X100s has a faster AF, better EVF, and plenty of new features. It’s really time for Fuji to make a new X PRO 2 too!

The new GF and G and the Hasselblad Lunar to be announced soon…

Panasonic and Hasselblad will announce new mirrorless cameras in early April. Ok, let’s face it, the Hasselblad Lunar isn’t really a new cameras…it’s a NEX-7 with a luxurious chassis. You can opt for one of the five designs displayed on Hasselblad-Lunar.com. Price for that luxury is over $5,000.

A lot more cheaper cameras are going to be announced by Panasonic on April 9th. The cameras will be a minor update over the predecessors. No fancy new sensor and no big new tech but many small improvements here and there. The probably most interesting news is that the new GF will be very similar to the current GX making the current GX1 basically…useless (from a marketing point of view). I guess dramatically “different” GX2 is on the horizon…

Leica M video test by Johnnie Behiri.

Leica’s first full frame HDSLR – is the M240 video capable? from Johnnie Behiri on Vimeo.

Johnnie Behiri has no good words when it comes to talk about the Leica M video quality:
Spending a day with the camera left me wondering, was Leica ever talking to any professional cameraman before implementing HD recording for this unit or just decided to “join a trend” without really meaning this camera to be a capable working video tool?.
To my opinion, the video quality coming out of the camera is very disappointing and its operation in video mode is nothing but easy/logical. I hope features/video quality can be enhance with a firmware update.

That said it’s obvious Leica don’t bother about video. This is definitely a photographers camera and I doubt Leica will veer have serious intentions to compete in the hybrid foto-video camera world!.
