Panasonic announcement on April 9. And maybe a Sony announcement on April 3.

Right in time for the start of the the Las Vegas Nabshow Panasonic and maybe Sony will announce their new mirrorless products.

Panasonic is expected to announce the new GF and G cameras and NO(!) new lenses on April 9th.

I am still not sure about Sony but some unconfirmed rumors do say there could be some kind of announcement on April 3th. But there may be camcorder only and no new NEX-7n…

But even after the NAB show there will be new announcements. One again from Panasonic for a mysterious “new kind of camera” and from Olympus for the new E-P6.

It’s a bit quite now on the Canon-Nikon-Fuji-Pentax front but I think there should come something from them too!

Nikon Coolpix A review (and in Stock in US).

After Canon, Fuj and Pentax also Nikon has a high end APS-C fixed lens compact camera. And it’s finally in Stock at Amazon (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here). But how does it compare with its rivals? Photographyblog posted the full Coolpix A review and writes: “smaller and more pocketable than its rivals, but with slower auto-focusing and no built-in viewfinder. It’s definitely an interesting camera in its own right that would make a great second camera for Nikon DSLR owners, but ultimately a few crucial shortcomings and some fierce competition limit its appeal to a wider audience.

Pb isn’t really enthusiastic about the camera but everything is relative. The Nikon is really a pocketable camera while the Fuji X100s is not. You have the choice :)

Worldwide smallest DSLR from Canon vs EOS-M

And here it is the smallest DSLR ever made! It is the new Canon EOS 100D/Rebel SL1. Price specs and preorders are up at Amazon, Adorama and BHphoto. So is that the right weapon for Canon to battle against the mirrorless system cameras?

Dpreview posted that size comparison between the previous Rebel T4i vs the new SL1 and the Canon own EOS-M mirrorless camera. The size reduction on the width has been noticeable but the camera is still almost as thick as the T41 making it rather bully compared to the EOS-M. And I doubt you can get any smaller than this as the limit is represented by the flange distance between mount and sensor. I don’t know what to think about a camera like the SL1. It is almost too small for a DSLR (can’t hold it well while looking into the viewfinder) and too big to fit in your pocket. What’s your opinion?

Samsung NX Full Frame camera in 2014 only.

A good source told us that while It is true that Samsung is developing a NX Full Frame system the first camera will be available in 2014 only. And if the info is correct than 2014 sounds like the year where plenty of manufacturers will launch their FF mirrorless system. Sony is rumored to launch a new NEX-9 with 24 MPX sensor along three new Zeiss primes in June 2014. Fuji may will follow with a new FF X system in late 2014.

Nikon and Canon instead will keep focusing on the launch of ultra cheap FF DSRL and that may be a serious challenge for all future FF mirrorless systems!

The smallest DSRL leaks. And Sony NEX-7n delayed.

As we told you last week Canon plans to move against the mirrorless world by announcing a super tiny new DSRL. And on top you can see the first image leaked via Digicaminfo. You really can’t go smaller than this :)

That said we have some news on the “regular” mirrorless front too. The SOny NEX-7n has been delayed (probably due in June instead of April) and the E-P5 is coming in late April and uses exactly the same E-M5 sensor. Still no news about the mysterious Samsung NX-R…
