Let me catch up with some other “mirrorless” rumors I got in these last couple of days:
Fuji:
On January 15 along the X-PRO2, 100-400mm and X70 Fuji will also announce a quite strange new camera: The X-E2s! Fujirumors reports: “the most relevant changes/improvements compared to the X-E2 will be firmware based.“. Very strange…
Olympus:
Olympus will announce the 300mm PRO lens on January 6th and the PEN-F by end of January (43rumors).
Sony:
Sony is rumored to go back to a Sony A-mount camera announcement. Not sure this will be the first “A-mount mirrorless” camera. The A6xxx is probably due for a Cp+ release in late February.
And here are the very first pictures of the new Fuji X-E2s (Source: Fujirumors). And that’s going to be a quite weird new entry. It’s actually an X-E2 with some “software” related improvements. We got an Electronic shutter, new AF-system that are not “hardware” improvements but all achieved thanks to better software.
I am curious how Fuji will “Justify” that camera when it gets released on January 15.
Our Japanese friends from Digicameinfo spotted the list of Nikon compact cameras that will be announced at CES. The cameras got officially registered by Nikon on Postel. There are no specs known so far but some of those cameras may feature a larger (1 inch Sony?) sensor.
A couple of store employees told me that the Ricoh Theta S did sell at “tonnage” in their stores. So I check the Amazon camera ranking (Click here) and indeed the Ricoh is on top of the sales! It’s great news for a company that struggled to make meaningful sales the last couple of years. Pity they stopped to develop the GXR cam. I am now wondering if that 360 degree camera could become a hit like it happened with action cameras…
The Ricoh Theta can be bough here at Amazon, FocusCamera, Adorama and BHphoto.
Fujirumors leaked the image and specs of the new XF100-400mm F4.5-5.6 OIS WR lens. The lens will be announced on January 15 (just like the X-PRO 2). Those are the lens specs:
– minumum focus distance from 1.75 m.
– Zoomed out, it will be 270mm long, while on the wide end it will be about 6cm shorter.
– Filter size 77.
– Design: 21 elements 14 groups.
– weight 1375g and have
– Should cost around €1,800
Panasonic will announce a new TZ100 compact camera with 1 inch 20MP sensor (from Sony) and a huge 25-250mm lens. The camera will be announced the 5th of January right at the CES show start. Panasonic will also display a pre-final version of the 100-400mm Leica MFT lens.
