Panasonic MFT camera announcement in late August. Olympus in early September.

E-PL8

MFT folks will just have to wait one month to get their next MFT camera:

  1. Panasonic will announce a new entry level MFT camera by end of August (no GH5!)
  2. Olympus will announce the E-PL8 in early September.

It is still unclear if the GH5 and E-M1II will be both introduced at Photokina. If I would take a guess the GH5 will be announced a couple of months after Photokina and the E-M1II will still be announced at Photokina but ship in early 2017.

Nikon, Sony and Canon will increase the prices in Europe by up to 20%!

Different store owners from different EU countries told us all the same story: In August Canon, Nikon and Sony will increase the price on cameras and lenses by up to 20%! The increase is caused by the weak Pound and Euro compared to the YEN.

:(

Note: Interesting that all three top companies increase the prices at the same time….

Around 4 months delay on the roadmap of Sony-Panasonic-Olympus-Nikon (Fuji was lucky)

We keep receiving info via different sources that the Kumamoto Sony sensor shutdown will have effects til late 2016. All major companies had to delay their camera release roadmap by at least four months.

And a lucky note on Fuji: They ordered a big lot of the X-T2 sensors made by Sony long before the Kumamoto earthquake. And lucky enough Sony produced most of those sensors before the shutdown in April. Fuji could ship the new X-T2 already now but they prefered to start shipping the cameras in September to reduce the production gab between this first batch of cameras and the second batch that is affected by the Sony four month production delay.

The Cine lens market is booming and today we got one more from Samyang: The XEEN 135mm t2.2. It will ship in five different mounts (E, MFT, PL, F and EF mount).

July 18th, 2016, Seoul, Korea

The global optics brand, Samyang Optics (http://www.samyanglensglobal.com) announced the release of XEEN 135mm T2.2. Along with the existing five lenses of 14mm T3.1, 24mm T1.5, 35mm T1.5, 50mm T1.5 and 85mm T1.5, XEEN 135mm T2.2 offers outstanding image quality from resolving power for 4K+ production for filming video and cinema.

XEEN is a specialized brand in professional video-cine lens launched by Samyang Optics in 2015. The XEEN lenses are designed with Samyang Optics’ know-how and have outstanding optical performance for 4K+ with the X-Coating Technology, ensuring maximum image quality to create a cinematic look.

The 24mm x 36mm negative size allows XEEN to not only work with full frame cameras, but also with Super 35, APS-C and APS-H cameras. The lenses are available in five different mounts – PL, EF, F, E, and MFT and two different focus scales – metric and imperial units. Also, the aluminium metal housing is known for its reliability in various shooting conditions.

The new XEEN 135mm adds telephoto angle to the existing XEEN set, enabling to capture the sincere emotions and details of characters in films and videos. Also the bright T2.2 offers high quality footage with clear contrast and impressive colors, even under less-than-optimal lighting conditions. The large aperture also creates a pleasing bokeh effect for a cinematic look.

Moreover, Samyang has announced to release a total of five lenses throughout five weeks as a 2016 Summer Samyang Blockbuster campaign starting from XEEN 135mm. The other four lenses will be announced on every Monday from July 25th to August 15th.

Created to deliver infinite possibilities, XEEN 135mm T2.2 will be globally available in August. The recommended retail price of each lens is EUR 2,200.
