Hasselblad interview at Dpreview: “We have learnt that we should launch products when they are fully developed”

Dpreview interviewed Uwe Moebus of Hasselblad. Some highlights:

1) ‘We have learnt that we should launch products when they are ready and fully developed for the market. We have also learnt a lot from our customers over last three years about what should be improved and we tried to bring this into the new camera.

2) ‘There are fewer professional photographers and it is getting harder for professionals to make money’

3) ‘There are fewer professional photographers and it is getting harder for professionals to make money’

4) Hasselblad was never tempted to use a higher resolution sensor in this model

5) Hasselblad was caught out by the demand for the X1D and really struggled at first to produce enough units to meet its orders. Since then though the company has boosted its production line, its manufacturing processes and assembly to deal with much larger volumes than it had expected. ‘

6) 35-75mm F3.5-4.5 zoom lens. Hasselblad claims it is the best lens the company has ever made

Olympus and Panasonic are warming up their engines for the MFT gear late summer announcements!

Olympus had a terrible year. Due the move of the factory from China to Vietnam they weren’t able to announce many new products. And Panasonic was busy pushing their new S Full frame cameras. But everything should go back to normal very soon:

Both companies are rumored to launch new MFT cameras and MFT lenses in late summer.

We have yet no solid rumors but some solid guesses yes: I bet we will get the E-M5III and some fast primes. And from Panasonic the GH6?

Watch out Nikon and Canon! Sony has registered two new camera codes and the new 35mm f/1.8 FE

Between Photokina 2018 and now Nikon and Canon had their big time with many new camera and lens releases for their newborn mirrorless systems. But now Sony is definitely ging to answer big! As reported by SonyAlphaRumors Sony has now registered two new cameras and a new lens:

  • WW245025 (probably a new RX or Cybershot camera)
  • WW716189 (probably a new very High End E-mount camera which I believe could be the A9II)
  • Sony 35mm f/1.8 FE lens (SEL35F18F).

And there is likely to be more new lenses and probably even more camera to come this autumn!
