New Shooting mode switch operation with larger “Sub Monitor”

GFX100 doesn’t have dials on top plate (S.S/ISO dial, Exp. Comp. doa) for realizing Still/Movie hybrid camera for professionals, GFX100 has a shooting mode dial (Still/Multi/Movie) on top

In studio or any shooting condition professionals need quick setting for both still and movie, but physical dials sometimes delay the set-up to shoot. So GFX100 has both Still and Moview setting just switching the mode dial and realize quick check all settings on sub monitor.

And for tether shooting from PC it also helpful to change setting on both PC or camera and check easier on any monitors

Of course it also effective for reducing the body size and weight

World’s onboard PDAF in Medium Format Camera

Approx. 100% coverage

-2EV @ F2, 50% faster autofocus performance

This large sensor features high-speed phase detection AF. Phase detection pixels are embedded at high density across the sensor surface to provide high-speed autofocusing with excellent accuracy. The camera to reach a new audience in moving subject medium format photography. This system meets and exceeds the create needs of professional photographers.

The Worlds’ first 102M pixels mirrorelss camera

New 102 megapixels guarantee not only image quality as the sensitivity, noise and dynamic range. the construction will be “backside illuminated structure”. It must be performed for sensitivity and capacity of photons and also support faster aperture by oblique light waves.

World’s 1st IBIS in Medium Format Body

102 Megapixel must be sensitive for any vibration. Target performance: 5.0 stops!!

This is the world’s first medium format interchangeable lens digital camera, equipped with “In-Body image stabilization”. The IBIS functionality rewrites the rules for medium format cameras, giving users the ability to handhold a high-resolution camera in all types of photography scenarios

This is scary: New infograph shows how camera market collapsed 84% from 2010 to 2018

Lensvid collected all the 2018 CIPA data and gosh are things going bad! Lensvid writes:

The bottom line is very bad though. We are below 20 million units per year and mirrorless cameras don’t gain as much traction as you might think (2% increase per year vs. 12% decrease in DSLR). For the first time, interchangeable lens cameras surpassed the sales of compact cameras (not surprising, to be honest). If you look at the entire decade you see an unbelievable drop of 84% from 2010 to 2018 in the number of cameras sold/made per year.

The lens market is also going down (except interestingly in the Americas where you have a small increase). Maybe the most important thing and something that we have been looking at for the first time is prices (it isn’t a direct number – CIPA gives the number of cameras/lenses and the amount of money these products were sold for – but it is not clear sold to whom – since the manufacturers do not sell directly to people and there are sometimes a lot of middle man in between).

Anyway – for what it is worth we see a trend which we already know of in the numbers – in 2018 fewer cameras were sold but for more money, it is even more obvious in lenses – the companies reported more money coming in from lenses in 2018 than in 2017 despite selling fewer lenses so you can do the math on what this means for lens camera/lens pricing and what will probably happen if the market will continue to shrink in 2019…

Mirrorless is the only segment having a slight growth but it cannot compensate the big loss in the DSLR and fixed lens business.

Fuji shows a mockup of a modular GFX system mirrorless camera

Fujirumors spotted this interesting new video from a Fuji event in Dubai. There is a lot of discussion about the sensor size and Fuji future products. And for the first time Fuji did show this modular GFX camera that they have developed. This is not ready to get into production yet but Fuji hopes that eventually it will:

On that core module you can attach different grips or different EVF’s. The sensor and back LCD screen are fixed. I hope Fuji will extend the modularity to the sensor too. Would be nice to be able to upgrade the sensor too!

Do you like Fuji’s idea?

Next Sony rumors: new RX0II and new135mm f/1.8 FE to be announced soon

Sony is rumored to have a new announcement within the next couple of week. And this time we should finally get a bunch of new E-mount lenses. Hot canditates are the 135mm f/1.8 FE and also a new APS-C E-mount zoom lens.

But there ight be one more thing!

Sony registered a new camera model having the code “WW151602”. It’s 99% likely this is the new RX0II as the cameras is said to use the same RX0 battery.

Last but not least Nokishita confirmed that Sony will announce one more E-mount mirrorless camera within the first half of 2019. This shouldn’t be a new A7sIII. Hot canditate is a possible new High End APS-C mirrorless!
