New Canon PowerShot V1 a new Canon APS-C cine compact camera coming during the first half of 2025?
I have 3 News and 2 Rumors about Canon today:
Let’s kick off with the news. This week Canon published the full financial results and in short we have three news to report:
- Canon Misses Profit Projections in 2024 Despite Strong Camera Sales
 - Canon claims to be Number one mirrorless system in the USA
 - It’s clear their compact fixed cameras are selling well. Canon plans to increase the production!
 
Rumors about two new cameras:
Canon want’s to launch a new PowerShot V series camera lineup. The first camera will be announced soon and be named “V1”:
Canon PowerShot V1 rumored specs:
- 24MP CMOS Sensor (approx)
 - Approximently 16-50mm (35mm Equivalent)
 - 3″ Screen (Approx 1 million pixels)
 - Screen has a 170° viewing angle
 - 4K Video (Very slight crop, but likely for aspect ratio)
 - 1.4X Crop Mode for Stills
 - RAW, C-RAW, Dual Pixel RAW
 - H.265 / HEVCC-Log3 / HDR PQ
 - Launch: Late Q1/Early Q2 2052
 
Canon compact Cine cameras specs:
Canon is rumored to launch a Sony FX30 competitor with the following specs:
- 24.1MP stack CMOS sensor
 - DIGIC X processor + DIGIC accelerator
 - 6K RAW, 120 frames 4k video shooting
 - New form factor (body design)
 - 30 fps high-speed continuous shooting
 - Support for C-Log2/C-Log3
 - Full-size HDMI interface
 - Announcement expected in the first half of 2025
 
My take:
All nice and fine…but I really want my vintage Canon Full Frame camera coming this year :)
