Some more doomsday predictions for 2022…
The Japanese magazine “Weekly Toyo Keizai” released the New Year Merger Special Issue where they forecasted the camera industry performance for 2022:
“the market is shrinking significantly or is in a structural recession. Many companies are in the red or have a significant decline in profits.”
If you combine this with the increase of the sensor price due to the chip shortage…well things are expected to run very bad for 2022.
Moreover the latest CIPA data shows that in late 2021 sales were lower than in 2020:
The first new lens of 2022 will be the Sigma 20mm f/2.0 DG DN lens
Following the three existing DG DN primes Sigma will very soon launch their new 20mm f/2.0 DG DN E+L mount lens. Here are the specs:
- 13 lenses in 11 groups
- minimum shooting distance 22cm
- maximum shooting magnification 1: 6.7
- filter diameter 62mm
- size φ70 × 72.4mm
- weight 370g
- Suggested retail price the same as the 65mm F2
