The “rangefinder-alike” battle: NEX-6 vs Fuji X-E1. And Panasonic GX2 will not have an EVF :(

TheCameraStoreTV posted this Fuji X-E1 vs NEX-6 video comparison. Fuji and Sony are the only companies making mirrorless with rangefinder alike design (not real rangefinders like Leica is doing). And coming back to rumor we just heard that the new Panasonic GX2 may is coming in Spring 2013 and it will NOT have a built-in viewfinder. Let’s hope this isn’t true! At leats it’s my opinion that Panasonic should make it with integrated EVF!

Olympus and Sony announcements in early January?

Last week we had the new Olympus 17mm f/1.8 lens announcement. But we are always hungry of new rumors and it looks like we don’t have to wait a lot to see the next bunch of announcements. According to multiple sources on SAR and 43rumors both Olympus and Sony will announce new products in early January. From Sony we can expect new NEX lenses and entry level cameras while Olympus will almost certainly announce the new 40-150mm f/2.8 zoom. Their first High Quality and constant aperture zoom.

Is that all? I think there is a chance that Samsung will announce their first Android powered NX cameras. Haven’t heard anything about possible Panasonic products yet while Canon is expected to announce new EOS-M lenses in February-March.

The CES show is a more consumer oriented show where usually we don’t have to expect semipro stuff to be announced. So no Full Frame Mirrorless camera coming for now…

Two Olympus lenses to be announced soon!

So, there is still some exciting new announcement to come before the end of this year! According to multiple top sources Olympus will soon have a double lens announcement. One is the already well known 17mm f/1.8 prime lens. M43.eu posted the first JPG and RAW image samples of the lens. It will cost around 550 Euro and be in Stock right before Christmas. But there is also a second mysterious “high quality” lens to come. Hope to hear some specs about it soon…

P.S.: Panasonic GX2 announcement has been probably delayed til early 2013 :(

Samsung is alive! NX300 spotted (an Android camera)

.

As you may recall Samsung said that they will not announce any camera this year. But Photorumors spotted an image of what appears to be the future NX300 camera. I guess the camera will be announced in early January right before the CES show and be based on the Android OS. Will this new strategy finally help the Samsung NX system? I sure hope they will!

CR speculates about a possible EOS-M 55mm f/1.3 lens release in March

This news falls into the category “very unlikely rumors“. CanonRumors reports that Canon may announce a new 55mm f/1.3 lens in March which he speculates to be an EOS-M mount lens. The only thing I heard (and I reported it yesterday) is that new EOS-M mount lenses will be announced in Spring 2013. But i haven’t heard about a 55mm lens yet. Anyway, would be a welcome addition to the EOS-M range! Something similar is going to be announced by Panasonic, to be more precise it is the 42,5mm f/1.2 lens. This one is not a rumor. Panasonic said it will release it in 2013.

The next rumor roundup! Panasonic, Samsung, Olympus,Canon and Sony!

Photokina is over and it’s time to a mirrorless forecast. What’s coming next? I collected some rumors from my sources and external websites to write these possible roadmap:

Panasonic:
The first camera we expect is the new Panasonic GX2. Very likely coming in November if plan haven’t been changed lately. It features the same GH3 sensor and a likely a built.in electronic viewfinder. These is the rumor part. The official part came from Panasonic back in Spring when they said that they will better define the GX series during 2012. So they have to do something :)
A new MFT videocamera could be announced in January.

Olympus:
Olympus will have some major Camera and Lens announcement within the next 2-3 months. Some rumors said the announcement could be made in early January. All Cameras and Lenses are said to be made for the semi pro market.

Sony:
If you are waiting to see new Cameras and Lenses for the NEX system than wait until February-March. The NEX-7 successor may be announced around that time.

Canon:
Canon is set to introduce new lenses by February-March 2013. I have no info yet about possible new cameras.

Samsung:
Samsung completely restructured their Camera roadmap. Android powered NX cameras are likely to be announced in March-April 2013.

I have no detailed info about Nikon, Fuji, Pentax or Ricoh. Drop me a message at mirrorlessrumors@gmail.com if you have some more rumor to share! I am particularly interested inreceiving some Full Frame rumors from Fuji and Sony :)
