On the rumor front we got some news about Panasonic and Sony. Let’s start from the soonest to come camera…the Panasonic G5. It’s very likely that this camera is going to be announced within the next 7-10 days. it will be a modest update of the current G3. No revolution, for a more “exciting” news you will have to wait until the GH3 announcement in September. Ops, almost forgot, there may be a new m43 lens too along the G5!

A rumor coming from unkwonw mysterious Sony sources said that a new NEX high end model may be announced or displayed (?) at Photokina in September. Wondering what Sony will do to convince us to spend more money than you already have to spend on the NEX-7…

As a reminder, Olympus PEN and Samsung NX cameras are also coming at Photokina while Canon may anticipate the announcement to late July.

Today Fuji will announce the new lens roadmap. And we got the specs :)

In 2012 we will have:

In 2013:

56mm f/1.4
55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 OIS (optical stabilization)

Canonrumors reports that there will be a Canon announcement on July 24th. His “guess” is that the announcement has to do with new mirrorless cameras. If the rumor is correct it sounds a bit weird that Canon will announce such an important system while many of us will be on vacation :)

Photorumors found the proof of the NX-R existence. It also confirms that the camera will have built-in WiFi. And the ex Partner of Samsung…Pentax published another APS-C lens patent for a mirrorless camera. It’s a 16-55mm zoom lens (Source: Egami).

I really hope Samsung NX-R will be the one cam that helps the NX system to gain some momentum. More competition (and options) we have better it is for all of us :)

Lats year Samsung created quite a buzz by releasing the image you see here on top that shows some of their camera prototypes. Until now we haven’t seen the light of any of the cameras you see on the pic but according to Photo Rumors sources the NX-R retro styled camera you see in the middle of the picture (that looks like the Leica X2) has the reached the final stage of the development suggesting that it might be ready for Photokina. The name? NX-R (R= Retro). Would you buy a camera like that? Me yes!

Mirrorless and Interchangeable system cameras are becoming more and more popular. And it looks like even Apple recognized the value of having a the possibility to change lenses on iPhones. The US20120147193 patent (Click here to see the document) describes an iPhone capable of using different kind of lenses! In short, it works like that: The back of the iPhone has a removable panel that includes the lens. By changing (image on top) or rotating (image on bottom) the panel you will change the lens used for the iPhone camera.

Apple writes:
“The digital imaging subsystem is typically enclosed within the case of the device to protect the digital imaging subsystem. The enclosure generally prevents direct access to the lens of the digital imaging subsystem for the purpose of providing any sort of supplementary optics, especially if the supplementary optics must be precisely aligned with the image sensor. It would be desirable to provide a structure for a compact device that allows the end user to reconfigure the optical arrangement of the device while retaining the benefits of assembling the device using a pre-assembled digital imaging subsystem.”

I think it’s unlikely this idea will ever be realized by Apple. The latest Macbook PRO Retina proves once again how Apple tends to protect the “inside” of their products. Can’t imagine they will let you open your iPhone!

Fujirumors reports that there will be a Fuji global announcement on June 27th regarding future XF lenses for the Fuji X Pro 1. This sounds more like a new lens roadmap announcement more than a real lens release. Anyway we alreayd heard rumors about possible lenses:
