Did Diglloyd just post the first image samples shot on the new Otus lens?

A short hint: What you see on that Diglloyd post (click here) could be the very first image samples shot on the soon to be announced new Otus 28mm f/1.4 lens! Why can we be almost sure this is the new lens?

  1. Diglloyd did not unveil any lens info.
  2. He is known for testing new Zeiss lenses in advance.

He writes about the “unknown” lens:

Of course, many lenses could not do anywhere near so well as here—this is excellence in flare control and maintenance of contrast in a blindingly bright sky/sun.

So is it the Otus he is talking about?

(High credibility rumor) Zeiss to announce new Loxia and Otus lenses between October 12 and 16.

Prepare your credit card if you want to buy some new high quality glass! We have just been told Zeiss plans an announcement someday between the week of October 12-16. What we can almost certainly expect to be announced are:

  1. New Loxia FE 21mm f/2.8 lens. Based on the [shoplink 300350 ebay]Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 Biogon ZM lens design (listed here on eBay)[/shoplink].
  2. New Zeiss Otus 28mm f/1.4 lens for Canon and Nikon mount.

I have no info yet about possible other lenses.

Olympus and Panasonic new massive telephoto lenses will be announced in Spring.

The official Olympus 300mm lens description. But unlike their announcement the lens will ship in 2016 only.

So what about Micro Four Thirds folks? What’s coming next? Well, for sure we know that you can expect to spend your hard-earned dollar on new huge telephoto lenses:

  1. Olympus 300mm f/4.0 PRO lens.
  2. Panasonic-Leica 100-400mm f/4.0-6.3.

The two new lenses will have three things in common:
1) Both lenses will ship in Spring
2) Both are rumored to have a price tag close to $2,000.
3) Both will have in lens stabilization.

Which one are you going to buy?

Zeiss will launch a new Otus 28mm lens in mid October.

Bildschirmfoto 2015-09-28 um 14.52.18

Be prepared folks to spend another $5,000(?) for the next best Zeiss lens: The Otus 28mm! We don’t know yet the aperture of the lens but SAR reports it will be announced around mid October. Of course this lens works best on Mirrorless cameras where you can rely on EVF, focus peaking and other features a DSLR will never be able to offer.

As Mr. Bruns would say…”Excellent” :)

Image on top shows the Leica SL with 24-90mm zoom lens.

Yep, our source was right and Leica is indeed going to announce their completely new SL Full Frame mirrorless and autofocus system on October 20! And Leica will announce three new SL lenses with the following specs:

– Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 1: 2.8-4 / 24-90 mm ASPH.
– Leica Apo-Vario-Elmarit-SL 1: 2.8-4 / 90-280 mm
– Leica Summilux-SL 1: 1.4 / 50 mm ASPH.

I have been told this is an extremely expensive cameras. I don’t think this can be a real Sony FE system competitor. It will remain a luxury product for the niche and rich photographers market.

Andreas H Kaufmann shows us the first (blurred) image of the new Leica SL!

Leica boss Kaufmann is teasing us with a blurred picture of the new Leica SL mirrorless system camera. He posted that image on his private Facebook account and made some fun:

“The new Leica-Zagato binocular, I really love this design! Shot on Q”

And when someone asked him about the camera on the background he answered:

“There could be an answer to this….but…”

We will have to wait til October 20 to see the camera announced. And maybe we can leak some specs or even images before that ;)

Thanks Mistral75!
