Hot week coming: Leica will announce the M10 on Jan 18. Fuji big announcement day on Jan 19.

We got two major announcements next week and here are the latest details:

1) Leica will announce the M10 on January 18. The camera will feature many minor improvements (like better viewfinder) but the sensor will be the “usual” 24MP FF.

2) Fuji has a big announcement day on January 19. We know we will get the GFX pricing, X-t20, X100F and new XF lenses. Latest rumors say there will be a firmware update too. And Fujirumors also posted the X-T20 specs.

And we expect more announcements from Sony, Panasonic and Olympus right before the CP+ show. More about that soon on MR…

Rumored body only price for the GFX is $6,499

The Fuji GFX preorders will start on January 19. And this should be the US pricing:

The FX50s body with EVF will be priced $6,499 (not the supercool tilting EVF but the normal one)
Fujinon GF 32-64mm f/4 lens $2,299
Fujinon GF 63mm f/2.8 lens $1,499
Fujinon GF 120mm f/4 macro lens $2,599

Will you buy the GFX for that price?

What DJI plans to do with Hasselblad remains a mystery. But it seems DJI has the cash that Hasselblad has not to further develop the medium format segment:

It would be comforting, albeit naive, to think that everything will remain consistent and that no significant changes will take place, but I can assure you that this will not be the case. DJI sees a future in Hasselblad. I’m sure the Chinese market loves a brand like Hasselblad and it will be wildly successful there. But, what about the rest of the world? Can DJI maintain the iconic tradition and sales of such a mature and recognized brand?

I am yet not sure if that’s indirectly a good news for Fuji. I am not sure how many will buy the X1D knowing that the future path is a bit unclear…
