Plenty of FE lenses to be announced this summer by Sony, Sigma, Samyang and maybe Zeiss

We knew that 2017 would have been the year of lenses for the Sony E-mount system. According to multiple sources plenty of new glass will be announced the coming months. This includes:

1) 135mm f/1.8 GM by Sony
2) 400mm f/2.8 GM by Sony
3) 35mm f/1.4 FE by Sigma
4) Another Sigma zoom FE by end 2017
5) New Zeiss Batis lenses by end Summer early Fall
6) New Samyang FE autofocus prime lens this Fall

And there should be more lenses by Sony along the A7III launch in October/November.

Specs of the Sony A7III that is going to be announced in October/November

So, the next Sony FF E-mount camera will be the A7III. While the A7rIII and A7sIII are more likely to be announced sometimes in 2018. And SonyAlphaRumors shared the A7III specs:

– New 24 MP sensor
– First source said it hs “Same Sony A9 autofocus system without the 20fps feature”. Second source said it’s “improved AF system”. Hope they mean both the same thing.
– Touch Screen
– Joystick control
– 4K recording
– Launch this fall

Still no info about the (RX?) camera that should be announced shortly…

Sony will launch a new A7III, 135mm and 400mm FE lens this year!

We can be pretty certain this is what Sony is going to announce this year:

  1. Sony A7III
    – 24MP Sensor (not the same as the A9).
    – same A9 autofocus system without the 20fps rate
    – to be launched in October-November
  2. Sony 135mm f/1.8 FE lens
    -to be launched this summer
  3. Sony 400mm FE (aperture unclear)
    -to be launched this summer

It seems like the heavy stuff like the A7rIII and A7sIII will be announced or ship in 2018 only

Prestigious Japanese magazine Sentaku confirms Nikon-Fuji partnership rumors

The June magazine issue of Sentaku fuels the rumors about a possible Nikon-Fuji partnership. The prestigious magazine writes that the government is putting Nikon and Fuji on a table to see if such a partnership could work. So for now this is not a done deal. But if Sentaku writes it there must be something real going on with Nikon. It’s highly likely Fuji or someone else will buy a stake into Nikon.

Report from “Sentaku.co.jp” suggests Japanese goverment is pressing Fuji to buy a stake into Nikon

This is a bomb news: Fujirumors got word that the Japanese government is pressing Fuji to buy a stake into Nikon (Source Sentaku June magazine issue). The reason is simple: Try to help Nikon to overcome their huge crisis and avoid any possible acquisition from non-japanese makers.

If you think this story is absurd you should remember that the same thing already happened with Sony buying a stake into Olympus. Olympus had a huge financial loss because the big financial scandal and Sony came in to help them out.

The “partnership” would allow Nikon to reduce costs. And on paper Nikon and Fuji are not direct competitors. Nikon is strong in the DSLR segment and PRO market. While Fuji sells mirrorless system cameras only and has no FF camera line up.

But for now that’s all just a “rumor”. We will keep you informed if we find out more!
