Has the digital camera fall been stopped? Signs of recovery!

After years  decline the falling digital camera sales trend seems to have stopped for the first time! CIPA reports that sales number in June where almost the same as the sales in June 2014. The data have been nicely summed up by Personal View.

And moreover Sony, Olympus, Fuji and Nikon posted positive sales results in their digital camera business. We have to see the coming months if the trend will be confirmed or not.

What is selling like hotcakes in the mirrorless camera world? The Fuji X-T1? The Sony A7rII? The Olympus E-M5II? Nope, it’s not a digital camera at all. The Fuji Instax cameras are the big success story of the moment! They are top sellers at Amazon US (ranking here). And the newly released Fuji financial report confirms the tremendous success. And without any real competitor Fuji can sleep nicely on their $$$ pillows…

Canon announces an EF mount mirrorless cube that can record at up to 4 Million ISO!

Canon announced the new “ME20F-SH”. A Cube form camera with EF mount and no mirror and no EVF. Canon says the camera “delivers exceptionally high sensitivity to capture Full HD video with a minimum subject illumination of less than 0.0005 lux“. This means it records in the dark at up to 4 million ISO! Take that Sony A7s :)

The camera main use will be in the surveillance market but also in cinema and tv production where you absolutely need those crazy ISO’s.

The camera uses a Full Frame 2,26 MP sensor and will cost $30,000 when it ships in December. Here are the full specs:

TheNakedCamera spotted a small plugin called Lightroom Dashboard. It’s made by a single person named “Cheyne”. The APP analyzes all your pictures and shows you in beautiful stats:

your most common apertures
your most common focal lengths
your photo volumes over the past 2 years
how much usage your lenses get
how much usage your cameras get,

Cheyne promised to develop further the new app to include plenty of more features.

Good news for Panasonic folks: Metabones releases firmware and adds autofocus for Panasonic cameras on their Canon EF to MFT adapters!

If you own a Panasonic MFT camera this is a good day for you! Metabones issued a new firmware update for their Canon EF to MFT adapters. Now it’s possible to autofocus EF lenses on Panasonic cameras!
