Canon about the EOS-M future: No camera with built-in EVF and no Lens roadmap.

Amateur Photographer reports that “Canon has no plan to incorporate an electronic viewfinder (EVF) in any future EOS M compact system cameras (CSCs) and will not be publishing a ‘roadmap’ of upcoming lenses.

I don’t know if Canon is just trying to fool us. becuase cameras liek the NEX-6 and Fuji X-E1 are actually real hotsellers (at least according to those Amazon rankings). My guess, Canon is talking “xxxx-shit” :)

Samsung changes roadmap and will bring Android NX cameras in early 2013.

I guess you have noticed that Samsung played quite a small role at photokina. They didn’t bring any new camera or other bigger news. Form what we heard they are changing their product strategy and working on a completely new front. Photorumors now reports that the next NX series upgrade will be between January and April 2013 and at least two new NX models will use the Android OS:

  • The Samsung NX1000 will be upgraded to an Android powered model using tilting screen like the MV900 and a new EVF.
  • The Samsung NX210 will be replaced with the NX300. I have no info about Android OS on the NX300. The new model is expected to keep its design and add a new optional EVF and OVF that Samsung is currently working on.
  • The Samsung NX-R model will also be released. It is expected to be in the same category as the Samsung NX20.

It’s about time for Samsung to talk less and do more on the camera front. Otherwise they will never become leader of the mirrorless market as announced many times during the past three years. I hope for them and for us that they can play a major role in the future. More choices we have better it is!

Also Sony says FF mirrorless is “possible”

it sounds like we are going to see a new Sony and Fuji Full Frame mirrorless battle in 2013! Sony manager Mark Weir unveiled at Imaging Resource that “Well, I think everyone understands that if we can make the VG900, we could make a still camera variant of that.“. And he is talking about a “rangefinder styled” camera. A NEX-9 with FF sensor?

Photokina is still not over but Fuji and Sony are already hinting some new exciting news for the next months. Should Canon and Nikon be worried for their DSLR FF market? I think yes!

Fuji may go Full Frame mirrorless?

Amateur Photographer interviewed Mr. Hiroshi Kawahara from Fuji. And he confirmed that “Fujifilm technicians are seriously investigating the possible launch of a full-frame compact system camera (CSC) and are focusing on the sensor and processor that would be required.” Mr Kawahara also confirmed that “the covering circle of Fuji’s current X-series lenses is large enough to accommodate full frame.” The problem is that current wide angle lenses would not cover the full FF area.

Intruiguing. I only can say…go Fuji! Do it! What do you think?
