By the way, the Leica Super-Elmar-M 18mm is a very expensive lens…$loc = $_SESSION[‘geoip’];

Sony NEX-7 rendering (not real images!)

I just found a new Sony NEX-7 rendering. This is not the real camera but a product of imagination ;)

UPDATE: The author of the rendering is Qing Xiang (http://timberwolf.zenfolio.com)

Reminder->There eas a rumor a while go that said that the NEX-7 would be announced at Photokina and:

Design totally different to NEX5/3, and more bigger size
Spec unknow yet
Support XDCAM recording format
soonest release is on Sept, unless Panasonic announce GH2

Nikon and mirrorless…

The following includes questions and answers at the Conference for the Medium Term Management Plan on June 18, 2010 (Source: Nikon.com). The most interesting part is here:

Q: What can you tell us about the new-generation digital cameras?
A: Although we considered a variety of so-called mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras for the digital SLR camera market, we discern the appropriate timing for the launch of our new-generation digital cameras based on the direction of the market demand.

Come on Nikon, you can do it ;)

Sony NEX cameras in Stock almost everywhere (in Stock status check)

The first place to check for availability is http://www.sonystyle.com. The in Stock status does change depending from the country you live. We have seen that the NEX3 is in Stock almost everywhere and the NEX5 only in few countries.

Let’s also check other big stores:
US -> Amazon has the NEX3 in Stock. Also BHphoto has the NEX-3 in Stock. And where is the NEX-5? Only Ritz camera does have the black model in Stock!
EUROPE -> The most lucky guys are our friends from UK and France! Amazon UK has the black and silver NEX5 in Stock and the same cameras are in Stock at Amazon France. Sorry german folks, you still have to wait on Amazon Germany
JAPAN -> As usual they get the hot stuff before anybody else: Amazon Japan has almost everything in Stock!

Sony NEX firmware update adds 3D Sweep Panorama

Press Release:

3D update for Sony’s NEX-5/NEX-3 cameras

Free firmware adds 3D Sweep Panorama shooting

London, 1st July 2010: A new firmware update brings the excitement of 3D shooting to the NEX-5/NEX-3 interchangeable lens cameras.

Available now for free download from the Sony Europe support site, the update adds several performance enhancements plus 3D Sweep Panorama. Unique to Sony, this exciting feature makes it easy to capture dramatic panoramic images in 3D with an extra-wide field of view.

Just press the shutter button and sweep the camera from side to side. The NEX-5 and NEX-3 shoot a high-speed burst of frames that are automatically combined inside the camera to create a seamless panoramic still image containing depth information. Sweep Panoramas can be enjoyed in 3D when the camera is connected to your 3D BRAVIA or any standards-compatible 3D TV.

The update also offers other enhancements for the NEX-5/NEX-3. These include:

  • Improvement of ‘normal’ 2D Sweep Panorama shooting;
  • Decreased power drain when the camera is switched off;
  • Quicker start-up in low-light conditions.

The update is only needed for NEX-5/NEX-3 cameras with Version 01 firmware currently installed. Cameras shipped with Version 02 firmware or higher are already updated with the new features. Owners can find out what firmware version they’re currently running by selecting [MENU]/[SETUP]/[VERSION]. Registered NEX-5/NEX-3 owners will be advised of the update via email.
