New Fuji X lens firimware update. GH3 delayed, NEX-6 shipping.

Fuji just released the new firmware update for three X lenses. It should improve the AF performance (via Fujirumors):

A not so good news is coming from Panasonic. They just released a new shipment date for the GH3 and it has been postponed to December 13th (Source: DC.watch).

Full Nikon V2 specs leaked.

Digicaminfo (translation here) posted the full Nikon V2 specs. The camera will be announced tomorrow:

  • newly developed 14.25 million pixel Super high-speed AF CMOS sensor

  • EXPEED 3A image processing engine

  • 73 points AF

  • 1.44 million dot EVF

  • 3.0-inch 920 000 dot LCD monitor

  • Media SD / SDHC / SDXC

  • Full HD video

  • shutter speed 1/4000-30 seconds

  • 160-6400 ISO sensitivity

  • Weight 337 g (with battery, including media)

  • Body only, (18.5mm ,10-30mm VR) is available, double zoom kit (10-30mm VR ,10-100mm VR) is a standard zoom lens kit (10-30mm VR), double lens kit.

  • Around ¥ 90000, expected price over-the-counter only standard body kit zoom around 100000 yen.

  • Released in November 2012.

 

Nikon V2 to be announced tomorrow!

Tomorrow is big day for the Nikon 1 system. We will see the new V2 camera and maybe some news about the future 1 lens roadmap. Meantime Nikonrumors spotted the patents for the 1 Nikkor 10-100mm f/4-5.6 lens and fan accessory for cooling digital cameras.

 

Canon EOS-M manual download and tests.

The Canon EOS-M is now shipping in Asia at Digitalrev and Amazon Japan. First sales reports in Japan puts the camera under the top 10 of the most sold system cameras (Source: BCNranking).

While we EU and US readers have to wait a few more days to get our hands on the camera here are some more news to read (via CanonWatch):
Canon UK (Click here / via CW) has the Canon EOS M Mirrorless Camera Manuals available for download. Some new image samples have been posted at Nikkei. A full EOS-M review has been posted by Gizmodo: “We’ve been waiting a long time for a compact interchangeable-lens camera from Canon, and from the looks of it the Canon EOS M is a winner.“

Full Fuji X-E1 review at Luminous Landscape!

Luminous Landscape (Click here) published the full Fuji X-E1 review. And they like the camera a lot: “So there you have it.  A really serious mirrorless system camera from Fuji.  While many will paint it as an ‘X-Pro1-lite’, it’s actually its whole own creature.  Rather than being a step-down second  camera for X-Pro1 owners, I think far more people will find their way into the Fuji system with the X-E1 as their primary tool.  They will then perhaps add an X-Pro1 if they find they want to start move out of the mirrorless ethos and experiment with truly rangefinder-style work.“

The X-E1 has not the fastest AF nor the best EVF quality but it is the image quality that impresses the reviewer: “Let’s get right to the point: the Fuji X-Trans sensor is superb.  I sang its praises thoroughly here in the X-Pro1 review, as have many other serious photographers and reviewers.  In my first round of testing, I found that, with the 35mm f1.4, the X-Pro1’s image quality was competitive to what came out of my Leica M9, save-for colour depth, on which the Leica trumps all other 35mm systems in my experience. We’re talking some pretty seriously high resolution.  Most shooters simply won’t need more.“

By reading their words it sounds like Fuji has for now the most “serious” mirrorless system on market. At least until Fuji or Sony will launch their FF systems… :)
