First Zeiss Touit lens review confirmes a “spectacular” performance!

The video on top shows you the official Zeiss Touit lens presentation. But marketing aside…how good are the lens in real testings made by “independent” reviewers? The Spanish website DSLRmagazine (google translation here) is the first website that had the pleasure to test the lenses. And the results are nothing less than stellar! They write that “The optical performance is the highest level we ever tested. You could say that at the moment are “state of the art” optics for CSC.

Well done Zeiss…well done!

Olympus E-P5 and in Japan the E-PL6 announced!

Olympus officially announced the new E-P5 and for Japanese market only the E-PL6. Full roundup of links to tests and early hands-on can be read at 43rumors (Click here). There is not much to argue on the nice E-P5 improvements (like ISO 100 and 1/8000 shutter). But it’s a bit pity that the body only is priced at $1000 or 1000 Euro. And if you want a kit version you have to only get it with the (nice) new VF-4 viewfinder. Would have been kind from Olympus to allow us a bit more “freedom” when choosing our needed kit (for example camera+lens without viewfinder option).

A great news is that finally Olympus launched the 17, 45 and 75mm Black primes lenses. And unlike the previous 12mm Black Limited Edition the new Lenses costs the same as the Silver version. Well done!

Canon will challenge the Sony RX100? EOS-M with lens sells for $399.

Canon Rumor

The Sony RX100 showed us hot to make a “real compact” camera with larger sensor. And it sounds like Canon is going to make a competitor with the same size btu with even larger APS-C sensor! CanonWatch reports that “Canon may be working on a compact camera with a large sensor. Not a successor of the PowerShot G1 X (price & specs), but a camera like the PowerShot S110 (price & specs), just a bit a larger. The camera should have a fast lens and the new APS-C 18MP sensor featured on the Rebel Sl1/EOS 100D (price & specs), and the DIGIC 6 Image Processing Unit. No viewfinder. Pricing should be less than the PowerShot G1 X when it was released. We expect Canon to announce this camera at the end of Summer 2013.

APS-C compact of the same size of the RX100? I have to see it to believe it!

Still no rumor from the Canon EOS-M mirrorless system. But Canon is lowering the price of the camera and you can now grab it with lens(!) for $399 only at .

Zeiss (Click here) posted an article about “How an extraordinary family of ZEISS lenses were developed“. They explain why they didn’t go Micro Four Thirds: “In order to stay true to the high quality standards of the ZEISS brand, it was decided to focus on cameras with an APS-C sensor“. Some new image samples shot on the Fuji X camera can be found at SystemKameraForum.

Coming soon: Fuji’s entry level X system camera!

.

Patrick at FujiRumors got feedback from trusted sources and they confirmed a new X entry level system camera is coming soon from Fuji. These are the key info:

– It will be announced in Summer
– It will be smaller than the current [shoplink 100016]Fuji X-E1[/shoplink]– It hess less controls and dials than the X-E1
– There is no built.in viewfinder

There is also an anonymosu (also not trusted source) that said that the Body + Lens price is around $550 and launch in July. For that price you get a lens and the X-trans sensor? If ture it would be easily a hotseller.  But to be honest the “rumored” price sounds too low to be true.
