Video sample of the A7s at crazy 409,600 ISO!

Den Lenni from Fstopacademy posted the very frist A7s low light video test (scroll at the bottom of his site to find the video).

The image on very top shows you the quality at ISO 409,600. But before to cry about the grain and nosie you see you have to check the same scene at ISO 6,400:

As you see there is no light at all in the room! So it’s quite a miracle that you actually CAN SEE something at ISO 409,600!

And up to ISO 102,400 the noise isn’t really bad at all:

Nikon 1 J4 officially announced!

This is no joke: Today Nikon announced the J4 camera and you know what? They decided to not release the camera in USA! So it will be available in Europe and Asia only. Probably the reason behind that is that the US market is still “not mirrorless friendly”. Canon took a similar decision with their newest mirrorless camera.

Anyway, the new J4 has the same V3 18 MP sensor and an amazing Af system with 171 contrast and 105 pahse detect points.

A6000 sensor gets tested at DxOmark and confirms Sony can do sensors :)

DxOmark (Click here) posted the full Sony A6000 sensor test and confirms once again that Sony is doing terrific sensors! Despite “loosing” some space for the phase detection pixels the A6000 still achieves to be on top of the DxO score along the NEX-7 and the best APS-C Nikon (also using Sony sensor). Too bad the new A7s doesn’t feature the same ultra fast hybrid AF!

And the camera will ship tomorrow in USA too:

SLRgear test: Zeiss Otus 55mm beats Sigma 50mm ART only by a hair! And new 85mm Otus confirmed

Let’s talk about the best lenses you can use on your mirrorless cameras. On the video on top (minute 18:25) Zeiss confirms they will release a new 85mm f/1.4 Otus as next. But there is also another good news. If you want a Otus quality for a fourth of the price watch these tests at SLRgear:

The Zeiss beats the Sigma ART only by a very small margin! Cannot wait Sigma to make more fast ART lenses with proper design for mirrorless cameras!

Sony A7s NAB coverage. Has stainless steel mount!

Here are a couple of videos and news from the NABshow in Las Vegas. From a mirrorless point of view the most interesting news is the Sony A7s Full Frame 4K camera. Actually it’s the first Full Frame 4K camera with true pixel readout (no pixel binning and line skipping).

Sony explained the camera cannot record 4K internally because of the too much power it would use because of the large FF sensor. And there would be heating issues too.

Interesting: The new A7s has also a new stainless steal mount. Wondering if that has been introduced also to fix the light leak issue on the mount…

Sony A7s announced! Does 4K and 409.600 ISO.

Sony US just announced the new 12 Megapixel Full Frame E-mount A7s camera. In short these are the bad and good news:

Bad:

– Unlike the Gh4 it doesn’t record 4K on SD cards. You have to buy and sue an external recorder to record 4K 4:2:2 video.

– Autofocus hasn’t been improved (why not add the amazing A6000 hybrid AF?).

Good:

– Low resolution sensor allows amazing 409,600 ISO.

– Sony says this si the FF sensor with the highest dynamic range and color fidelity

– Costs just like the Panasonic GH4 ($1699)
