Hasselblad X1D will now ship within 7-14 days at BH

The X1D will ship within 7-14 days at BHphoto. This is the first time I see such a short shipment time in US. The Fuji GFX is now in Stock since a couple of weeks at Amazon US.

UPDATE: Dpreview just published their X1D firs impressions review. And the X1D seems to have an edge over the GFX when it comes to Dynamic range:

This greater definition in deep shadows allows the X1D to surpass the Fujifilm GFX 50S in extremely pushed, base ISO shots. Bill Claff’s independent analyses confirm the 0.08 EV advantage in base ISO (photographic) dynamic range over the GFX, and the X1D’s lower read noise.

Sony officially shows the new Medium Format Sensor roadmap at CEBit

Sony officially announced their new sensor roadmap. And you can watch the full details on that PDF file: sony-semicon.co.jp/products_en/news/detail/170301.pdf

As unveiled two days ago the new roadmap shows:

1) New 100MP 44x33mm Medium format Back Illuminated sensor would be announced in 2018 (for the kind of cameras like the Fuji GFX and X1D)
2) New 150MP 55x41mm Medium format Back Illuminated sensor would be announced in 2018 (for the kind of cameras like the Phase One 100XF).
3) New 150MP 55x41mm Medium format Back Illuminated monochrome sensor would be announced in 2018

The Megapixel war isn’t over folks! And it will never be over :)

Let’s hope this isn’t a fake: Fuji and Hasselblad will get a new Sony 100MP BSI sensor by 2018!

Yeah I know: It’s April 1 today. But the news we spotted today got posted on March 31. We can only hope Armdevices didn’t try to fool us by posting it one day earlier to make it sound more credible. They posted a video which for a short moment displays Sony’s medium format sensor roadmap. It says:

1) New 100MP 44x33mm Medium format Back Illuminated sensor would be announced in 2018 (for the kind of cameras like the Fuji GFX and X1D)
2) New 150MP 55x41mm Medium format Back Illuminated sensor would be announced in 2018 (for the kind of cameras like the Phase One 100XF).

What’s your take: Real or Fake???

Canon says they are working on a new kind of Lens Technology

In an interview with Focus Numerique Canon teased something special: They are working on a very new Lens Technology that will bring some real new added value. They didn’t disclose anything further.

Ee have to see if that’s just a marketing statement for something that will turn out to be nothing special or if it’s a real deal. I am guessing now: Maybe they will launch the first Liquid Lens for DSLR? Those kind of lenses uses liquids instead of glass and would allow to have super fast AF and Zoom and much more compact lens designs.

The next Sony camera is the A7sIII while the next Fuji is the X-E3

What are the next two cameras from Sony and Fuji? SAR reports that Sony could introduce the Sony As7III in April while Fujirumors reports the X-E3 is due for a launch this fall.

So Fuji for once will have a 6 months pause where they will probably evaluate the GFX impact. Sony on the other side might be a bit more busy with the A7sIII and probably a new A7III announcement this year.
