Nikon financial report: Less cameras sold, focus on High End Products

Nikon released their fiscal report for the year 2016.

In 2016 Operating income increased from the previous forecast up to ¥50.9 billion. But the net income of decreased to -¥7.1 billion.
For the year 2017 Nikon expects the operating profit to decrease down to ¥45 billion while profit should go up to ¥34 billion.

What about the Camera sales? Well just like every other manufacturer Nikon is focusing on making a shift to mid to high-end products and on reducing costs. SO net sales are declining and operating income too.
