Nikon confirms their new mirrorless sytem camera will be Full Frame

In an interview with Xitek Nikon confirmed that Full Frame will be the way to go for their new mirrorless system camera. They also said this:

  1. The design will be inspired by their long history of mirrorless film cameras. It will neither be fully retro nor fully modern
  2. They said they don’t like the Sony camera design
  3. They will appeal professional photographers. They think only few professionals currently use Sony-Fuji-Olympus mirrorless cameras

I don’t think it will be easy for Nikon to succeed in this market when they will launch their FF camera in 2018…

Nikon patents 24mm f/1.8 lens for both FF and APS-C mirrorless cameras!

Now this is unexpected. Nikon patented two version of a new 24mm f/1.8 lens: One for a Full Frame mirrorless system camera and one for an APS-C mirrorless system camera. I really don’t think Nikon plans to launch two new systems in 2018. So my guess is that they are simply trying to play with all options. At the end we should expect a FF or APS-C system only.
