Canon Tops 2024 Camera Shipments, Beating Sony
The Nikkei Industry Map 2026 has revealed the 2024 camera market share by units for each manufacturer.
- Canon: 3.53 million units (43.2%)
- Sony: 2.33 million units (28.5%)
- Nikon: 960,000 units (11.7%)
- Fujifilm: 740,000 units (9.0%)
- Panasonic: 280,000 units (3.4%)
- OM Digital: 160,000 units (1.9%)
- Ricoh Imaging: 70,000 units (0.8%)
In 2023 the numbers were as following:
- Canon: 3.34 million units (46.5%)
- Sony: 2 million units (27.9%)
- Nikon: 810,000 units (11.3%)
- Fujifilm: 430,000 units (6.0%)
- Panasonic: 260,000 units (3.6%)
- OM Digital: 180,000 units (2.5%)
- Ricoh Imaging: 60,000 units (0.8%)
Basically all manufacturers except OM Digital managed to increase the numbers of cameras sold. In general global shipments of digital cameras in 2024 were up for the first time in seven years

Just announced: new Hasselblad X2D II with Lidar AF and 10 stops image stabilization
Hasselblad X2D II at B&H Photo, Amazon, Adorama, FotoKoch, Foto Erhardt, Calumet DE, WexUK.
DJI owned Hasselblad has officially unveiled the new X2D II medium format camera (B&H Photo, Amazon, Adorama). It brings a couple of exciting new features:
- 10-stop IBIS – That’s right. The X2D II offers the world’s most powerful in-body stabilization to date.
- Integrated LIDAR autofocus – A world first: Hasselblad has built in a LIDAR module for ultra-precise focusing, even in challenging low-light conditions.
The camera is also LESS expensive than it’s predecessor, has a joystick (finally), new finish, better JPG engine and other improvements that make it quite a hot new release!
Nikon is rumored to announce a new Zr video-focused camera around September 10
Here are the rumored specs:
- Based on the Z6 III sensor, but with a new body design: no EVF, brick-shaped, large LCD – similar to RED cameras, Sony FX3, and Nikon Z30.
- It’s not a RED camera with Z-mount, but a Nikon body with RED tech inside.
- A silver Nikon Zf is also expected, but likely later in the year, after the Zr.
