Meyer Optik is back and will start re-releasing lenses by end of November

The new Meyer Optik management announced they will start to produce new lenses again:

We are currently revising the entire portfolio and are expected to release the first optimized lens at the end of November. This is the Trioplan 100 f2.8 II. The other lenses such as Trioplan 50, Lydith 30 or Primoplan 75 will follow (presumably) in monthly intervals.

These lenses will be available for Canon EF, Fuji X, Leica L, Leica M, M42, MFT, Nikon F, Pentax K, Sony E

Take that Sony: Sigma just annnounced it’s new 24-70mm f/2.8 FE lens will cost nearly 50% less than your GM version!

You can now preorder the new Sigma 24-70mm FE lens at BHphoto, Adorama, FocusCamera. WexUK. And the pricing is a strong kick in Sony’s  b…s :)

At nearly 50% of the Sony GM price you get same specs, slightly smaller lens and I bet Image Quality will be on  par too. The only real strong point of the Sony lens will be the better AF performance but that’s about it.

And Sigma  is fully commited to release more excellent FE lenses. A new patent unveiled these tw new f/1.2 lens designs:

Here is the 50mm f/1.2 lens design with specs:

Focal length: 50.99 mm
F no: 1.25
2ω : 45.97
Image height: 21.63 mm
Lens length: 154.20 mm

Here is the 40mm f/1.2 lens design with specs:

Focal length: 41.35 mm
F no: 1.26
2ω : 57.17
Image height: 21.63 mm
Lens length: 157.00 mm

Compared to the current Sigma 35mm f/1.2 FE  lens this new 50mm FE would be nearly 2cm longer. Quite a beast!
