Fujirumors reports that Fuji changed the XF lens roadmap. They “killed” the 120mm XF lens project and will go for a shorter than 100mm lens instead (maybe a 85mm macro?).
Journalists got invited for a Sony product touch and try session at the Sony World Photo award (April 21 at 10.45 London time). I guess they will not announce any new product.
UPDATE: Sony announced a new PRO support program for the UK…so that’s it :)
Today the NAB show officially started in Las Vegas. As expected there was no new mirrorless system camera announced. Just camcorders…
Still, there are some exciting cameras to come soon!
In May Olympus will announce the new E-PL8 (not really exciting)
In June/July Fuji will announce the new X-T2 (much more exciting than the Olympus announcement)
In June/July Sony will also annonce what could be considered to be the very first PRO mirrorless system camera the Sony A9 (super exciting!)
Nikon and Canon are more likely to introduce their premium mirrorlesss system cameras at Photokina. But still no reliable info if those cameras will eb Full Frame…
Fujirumors just leaked the first pictures of the new Fuji X-T2 camera! From the pictures you can see the joystick, a slightly different grip bigger SD card cover (for dual SD slot) and the ISO dial that goes up to 12.800 ISO.
The camera will be announced in late June/early July.
Solid source at Fujirumors confirmed the X-T2 will be launched the last week of June or early July at latest. And here are some specs hints:
EVF refresh: it’s going to be the same or better, possibly with the Pro2 matching it after a firmware update. Bear in mind the T2’s will be larger.
Continuous burst: I’m told the preproduction T2s have a deeper buffer; I’d expect that to be updated on the Pro2, too.
AF: ditto
Touch screen: I’ve been told preproduction units don’t have one, and I’ve been told they do. This is the only aspect of the whole camera that my sources haven’t been consistent on. I’ve not noticed Patrick speak much about a touch screen, or anybody else, so I’m assuming there won’t be one.
Dual cards: obviously it will have two slots.
The Canon FF mirrorless rumor keep coming back again. After being hinted for a possible CP+ release in January (didn’t happen) it’s now rumored to happen at Photokina. This of course sounds a more likely timing. LEt’s hope Canon was just fooling us when saying:
“it would be a little unrealistic to say that we will suddenly start offering a professional mirrorless camera” (article here).
Canonrumors speculates the new FF mirrorless could feature a 24MP sensor. I am not a Megapixel war fan but don’t know if from a pure marketing point of view 24Mp are enough to steal the spotlight from the future Sony A9 70-80Mp camera?
