NAB show press conferences: Panasonic and Sony to announce new camcorders on April 23 (and no Canon news?)

The Nabshow unveiled that Panasonic and Sony will have a press conference on April 23 (at 2pm and 3pm). We can expect both companies to announce new camcorder. And it may be that some of those will have a MFT or Sony E-mount.

What’s a bit striking is that Canon will not have any public conference this year. Not sure if it means there will be no new product announcement…

Double Zeiss and Sony announcement on April 5 and April 23

Quick update for E-mount followers:

1) Zeiss will announce a new Batis lens on April 5th (135mm f/2.8….I guess)
2) Sony will have a major announcement at the NAB show (April 23)

Panasonic and Canon could have a camcorder announcement too but nothing strictly related to their mirrorless system…

Sony big April event: Two new FE lenses and a High End E-mount camera!

It looks like we are finally getting some reliable rumors about the upcoming Sony April announcement. Sony plans to launch the following new E-mount stuff:

  1. 16.-35mm f/2.8 GM
  2. 100-400mm FE G
  3. New Sony High End E-mount camera

The High End E-mount camera is rumored to be displayed at the NAB show. This is probably going to be an ultimate “hybrid” camera with serious video performance and no overheating issue…LOL :)

I don’t think this is going to be a purely sort of Canon C100 cinema oriented DSLR styled camera. I heard the camera is good for sports photographers too as it has about 20fps and the best autofocus system of all mirrorless system cameras (at least that’s what Sony marketing claims).

Fuji is really working on a Very High End X camera!

Trusted sources at Fujirumors confirmed that Fuji is developing a new Very High End X camera that will be placed above the X-Pro2 and X-T2. Those are the key aspects of the camera:

  • Correct: Fujifilm is working on the ultimate X-series X-Trans APS-C camera
  • Design based on X-T line (We don’t know the name yet, but it’s should not be “X-T3“)
  • The camera is still under development, hence the camera price has not yet been set
  • The only sure thing is that the camera will be more expensive than any other X-series camera currently on the market
  • Best Fuji APS-C camera for video work

This sounds like a sort of X-T camera on steroids with all the best stills and video tech Fuji has to offer. I like it! But I am not surethat at $4,000-$5,000 this will really sell…or am I wrong?

Zeiss keeps teasing the new Batis FE lens…

Zeiss keeps posting images shot on the yet to be released new Batis telephoto portrait prime lens for the Sony E-mount system. There are no official specs yet although we bet this to be a new 135mm lens (F/2.8 or slightly faster).

One the image you can see on top of this article you can evaluate the Bokeh performance which seems to be rather excellent in my view!

Fuji is working on a new Top End APS-C X-Trans camera that will cost $5000

I really don’t know how much sense it makes but according Fuji seems to be working on a new $5,000!!! High End APS-C X-Trans camera. This would be Fuji’s first camera for professional sports and action photographers. The key on that camera seems to achieve maximum autofocus speed. But I really wonder if someone will spend $5,000 on an APS-C mirrorless camera yet. It will be hard for anyone to compete against the well established Nikon/Canon sport photography dominance.
