Zenit made some noise lately because they announced they wil launch a new Leica alike mirrorless system camera in 2018. But according to USSRphoto (via Petapixel) this isn’t a Leica rival. This is simply going to be a rebranded and cheaper version of the Leica SL :(

Yashica launched a teaser video for a new camera launch. After so many years of silence they are finally going back into the camera business. In the video you see one of their old film cameras. It’s unclear if this means their new camera will be a film camera too.

Now this is unexpected. Nikon patented two version of a new 24mm f/1.8 lens: One for a Full Frame mirrorless system camera and one for an APS-C mirrorless system camera. I really don’t think Nikon plans to launch two new systems in 2018. So my guess is that they are simply trying to play with all options. At the end we should expect a FF or APS-C system only.

The A9 body

Today Sony will have a big announcement. UPDATE: But they dind’t announce the new A7III. Instead they announced the RX10m4.

Still those A7III specsshould be pretty accurate:

24MP sensor same as the A9
Same A9 body (which also means same battery)
6fps with mechanical shutter
ISO up to 51200 (expanded to ISO 204800)
693 phase detection AF (which is same as a9!!),
minimum focus sensitivity is EV-3,
4k 30p recording,
joystick
touchscreen

With the notable exception of the A9 Sony has been very quiet this year. Their short camera release cycle madness seems to be over. But luckily we will likely get a new camera at PhotoPlus (late October). SonyAlphaRumors got his hands on the possible camera specs:

Not bad, and hopefully it will have the large A9 battery!

The Japanese website Hi Lows Note spotted two newly published Nikon lens patents. It describes the design of a 50mm f/0.9 and 35mm f/1.2 lens for a Full Frame mirrorless system camera.

Seems like Nikon really wants to “WOW” the people when they will launch their new FF system in 2018!

Within 24 hours Fuji will announce the nee X-E3, XF80mm and GF45mm. Nokishita posted some new images and info:
