Fuji registered the new X-T3 in China

Fuji registered the new X-T3 camera in China (fccid.io). What’s a bit unique with that registration is that they even show a silhouette of the camera and this one too:

And thanks to Fujirumors we also have an idea when the camera will be launched and what specs we can expect:

  • Announcement at or before photokina 2018 (end of September)
  • 26MP X-Trans sensor
  • maybe stacked sensor (still do be confirmed by trusted sources, so grain of salt)
  • new processor
  • no IBIS
  • shipping October/November
  • touch screen
  • better battery performance (probably by keeping same battery, since Fujifilm registered a new battery charger for NP-W126s batteries, as reported here)

New EOS M5 II will be announced at Photokina

Image on top shows the current M5

I know you all want to hear more about the future new Canon Full Frame mirrorless. But CanonWatch reports that there will be a new EOS-M5 II APS-C cameras too:

“We got confirmation from a good source that Canon will announce the second iteration of the EOS M5, that’s the Canon EOS M5 Mark II, ahead of Photokina 2018 (which happens in September).

Not really news here, I get it, we told you before. However, it’s always good to have one more suggestion when it comes to rumors. This is not the first hint we got about the EOS M5 Mark II and its announcement.

The Canon EOS M5 Mark II most likely will have a 28MP sensor. Besides this, so far we only know what has to be considered obvious: 4K video, DIGIC 8 CPU etc.

We expect first specification leaks in the next weeks, and first images of the EOS M5 Mark II in August. It’s 10 weeks to Photokina 2o18.

We expect Canon to also announce a new prime lens for the EOS M system.”

New Nikon Full Frame specs rumors

Here is a new set of rumors about the new Nikon Full Frame mirrorless. Still unclear if the first camera(s) will be announced on July 23 as previously rumored:

  • Over 400 AF points, not sure about the exact number, it should be somewhere between 430-450. The AF is supposed to be very fast.
  • The rear LCD screen is tiltable just like the Nikon D850.
  • There is a second LCD screen on the top of the camera.
  • My understanding is that there is only one selection wheel on top of the camera.
  • The camera’s “prism” with the EVF is a bit less angular/smoother when compared to the Sony a7.
  • I can now confirm that the new 24-70 mirrorless full frame kit lens will indeed be f/4.
  • I see 8K listed in the technical specifications, but it is hard for me to get the translation – I don’t think it’s for video, maybe 8K time-lapse just like the D850?
  • The new Nikon mirrorless camera will have a nice finish and a very comfortable grip. The overall handling/feeling is supposed to be excellent – this is coming from somebody who is/has tested the camera.
  • Most likely no built-in flash.
  • The promo materials should include dancers.
  • Potential names: Z300 and Z500 (not confirmed, take it with a grain of salt for now).

First leaked picture of the DJI Mavic II

Dronedj.com shared this first picture of the DJI Mavic II. And writes:

Improved form factor – The new Mavic 2 drone is sleeker and more aerodynamic than its predecessor, something we expected all along. At the same time, it is very much recognizable as a DJI Mavic Pro. Same color, same shape and the same folding mechanism it seems. Battery mounted on top and towards the back. Similar to original Mavic and not like the Mavic Air.

What’s in a name – The drone is labeled Mavic 2, which may mean that there still will be a Mavic Pro 2. The bands on the legs of the original Mavic Pro are gold colored. The one shown in the photo is silver, which may mean the advanced (or basic) model if you go by previous DJI drones (Phantom).

Two different sensor sizes – The photo seems to show two different sensor sizes. The one mounted on the drone in grey could be a 1-inch sensor, and the one in black on the table perhaps a 1/1.7 sensor? A big sensor will surely help you to “See the Bigger Picture”.

Gimbal – The photo also seems to show a removable gimbal, a la the GoPro Karma. If you look at the picture closely, it seems that the gimbal might just slide into the drone and thus can be used separately as well. To the left, on the table, you can see the second gimbal with what appears to be a significantly smaller camera/sensor size and a small screen. There is also a lighting connection presumably for charging. The gimbal mounting system seems to be a lot more sturdy and durable than what we currently have in the Mavic Pro.

Motors – The motors seem to be of a larger size than the original Mavic Pro

Propellers – Are not the ‘quiet’ ones we have seen on the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum and Phantom 4 Pro V2.0. Maybe DJI will reserve that option for later in the product lifecycle of the Mavic 2?

360-degree obstacle avoidance – The new Mavic 2 seems to have at least front and side obstacle avoidance cameras/sensors. Very likely it will feature the same at the bottom and at the back of the drone. Not at the top, however.

Foldable legs – We can’t see the rear legs of the drone but the front legs seem to fold sideways like they do on the original Mavic Pro.

Zoom lens? – When you look closely at the lens of the camera it does not seem to resemble the lenses OsitaLV showed earlier today. Unless the gimbal had been removed.

DJI’s postponed event – You would think that DJI already has enough on their hands with their announcement earlier this week to postpone the “See the Bigger Picture” event that was originally scheduled for July 18th. Now with the leaking of what very likely seems to be a photo of the actual product, the Mavic 2, I can only imagine the conversations that may take place at their head offices.
