Average price of digital cameras has quadrupled in the past decade

The Nikkei Industry Map 2026 reports some interesting facts about the camera industry:

Global shipments also increased 15% year-on-year to 824.7 billion yen, marking the fourth consecutive year of growth. As cameras become more sophisticated, the average unit price is rising, reaching approximately 97,000 yen in 2024, four times higher than ten years ago.

Shipments and prices keep climbing — good news for the camera industry, not so much for our wallets :)
