Ricoh GR tested by Dpreview and gets the “Gold Award”

Short break from all these Fuji rumors to report some Ricoh news! Dpreview (Click here) posted the full camera test and writes:

“the GR series had long ago overcome most operational quirks – resulting in an enjoyable, engaging camera with excellent image quality. So, with Raw performance that’s essentially indistinguishable from the Nikon’s, the Ricoh’s ND filter, longer battery life, faster focusing, lens quality and better rear screen give it the edge. The lower price seals the deal – earning the Ricoh our highest rating.”

The camera therefore earned a “Gold Award”. Well done Ricoh!

P.S.: What is nto so well done is the delivery delay in USA. Still 2-4 weeks to go until the camera will be in Stock at Amazon US.

Fuji X-m1 now leaks in “Brown” too!

Unlike the other X interchangeable cameras the soon to be announced X-M1 will also come in a third color version…Brown! And according to Digicaminfo the camera will ship in Japanese stores in late July only. It means you likely can’t get it in time for your summer vacation :(

There is also some new info about the two new lens designs: The 16-50mm zoom has a 12 lens in 10 groups design, 3 of them are aspherical lenses. The new 27mm pancake length is 23mm and weights 78g.

Reminder: Official announcement on June 25!

New Fuji X-M1 images leaked!

And here it is the new entry level Fuji X-M1 (images via Digicaminfo). As we “rumored” before the camera has no viewfinder, a titling screen and there is the new 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 and 27mm f/2.8 lens. The camera, lens, the 27mm pancake and the new X PRO 1 and X-E1 firmware update will be announced on June 25.

That is the long expected Fuji for poor people :)

Samsung Galaxy NX announced!

The new Samsung Galaxy NX has been announced in an event in London. Official press release text can be found at Petapixel, Samsungcamera, A first hands-on report at Photocomment, Digitalcamerainfo, dpreview, engadget, digitalcamerareview and at Imaging Resource.

The new NX in short:
The camera has a 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor with focus phase detection pixels. This means it has a hybrid contrast and phase detection autofocus system. It has a 1/6000s maximum shutter speed and shots 8.6 fps (Frames per second). It has a powerful 1.6GHz quad-core processor with 2GB or RAM, and runs Android Jelly Bean (4.2.2) operating system. What’s huge is the 4.8-inch touch panel, and the same NX20 viewfinder. But the important part is that this camera has everything what a Samsung smartphone has. Full connectivity (even LTE) and APP support and so on. Price is yet unknown while release is sometimes in summer.

Some said this is a smartphone with a huge camera on it :)
