Schneider turns the back at Samsung and joins Micro Four Thirds!
![]()
Oh Samsung…that hurts! The lens partner Schneider Kreuznach just joined the Micro Four Thirds group and announced they will soon release new lenses for the system. Confess, we all thought they would sooner or later join the NX system. Of course the chance still remains SK will also make NX lenses but the fact that they announced to go with m43 is a bad joke for the koreans!

2 years ago |I doubt they’ve dropped Samsung and will probably produce optics for both mounts as they already committed to new NX lenses for this calendar year.

10 months ago |My guess is that Samsung probably felt that there may not be a need now for high premium quality Schneider lenses, when you look at the m43 system, barely any if any can afford those premium lenses. Samsung knows that the majority of users cant justify lenses that cost over a grand…after all, they are Samsung, not Leica with a tiny tiny niche market. This is something Olympus and Panasonic continues to forget when they keep releasing cameras and lenses near a grand.the new Olympus 12mm lens is said to be 800 usd. Good luck to them, maybe the Leica users will have some money left over to help buy some of these one thousand dollar lenses.

Those zoom lenses aren’t wide enough neither is their f values. (4-5.6)
The 20mm f1.7 is very good now we need a 10.5 that is good as well… for M43
