Mirrorless sales raised in UK!
We usually have very detailed sales reports from the Japanese market but almost zero info about the rest of the world. But than to the latest report released by GfK Retail and Technology UK we now have some interesting details from the UK market. According to the report Mirrorless camera sales raised by 14% in 2012 while DSRL camera sales raised “only” 2%. And it is also interesting to know that bridge camera sales went up 5% and superzoom compacts surged 20%.
Would be nice to have some info about market shares too but those were not released yet.

4 months ago |With DSLR sales which hugely dominate the UK interchangeable lens market { certainly over 70%} the fact that their sales actually rose would suggest that the mirrorless sales are only impacting the P&S market. I would like to see the breakdown of all the mirrorless sales I would wager that the vast majority are the bargain basement give away models { EPL1 ,J1 etc]

4 months ago |rgeryh – Maybe, but some of us DSLR/multiple lens owners are itching to purchase something smaller and lighter without compromising on quality. The top notch CSCs such as the NEX-7 are certainly getting there and once they produce something of matching quality in the lens department DSLRs could be blown away for most users except for sports/press/wedding professionals. What virtue is there in lugging round heavy kit??
