X100s gets dpreviewed. Fuji X100 price drop (and firmware update coming soon).

The X100s just got dpreviewed and earned a Gold award. The Fuji X100s is amazing, but long live the original X100! The camera just got a huge price drop and is available for $899 at Amazon (Click here) and Adorama (Click here). And it sounds like the 130,000 X100 owners will soon get a nice present. At dpreview user Mistur said: “There will be an update for the X100 that will add approximately 50% of the 72 new features found in the X100s. While there has been no official announcement yet, I heard about it at a recent Fuji event for the X-M1.”

Great!

Olympus created a very nice momentum for the Micro Four Thirds system with their OMD launch. But the camera that Panasonic will announce in two weeks could become even more popular. The new GX7 promises to have all the best tech in one compact camera. It has a high resolution built-in tiltable EVF (world’s first!). This could be THE mft camera we were all waiting for! Here are the specs and more images:

– 90 degrees tiltable EVF with 2.76 million dots

– Maximum sensitivity is ISO25600
– 22 different Creative controls

NEX-FF coming in September. In Store in October.

It seems more and more likely that Sony will launch the new NEX-FF camera in September with availability in October. Little is known about the name and specs of the camera. But Sony developed three new FF sensors, a 24, a 32 and a 36 megapixel sensor. One of them will be the heart of the NEX-FF. At least two Zeiss lenses will be launched along the cameras.

And today I got a very “curious” rumors. It looks like Olympus could be involved too in that new NEX_FF project. Don’t know what this means. Probably some Oy tech will find his way in the new cam. it would be huge surprise if Olympus would make a NEX-FF camera or lens!

P.S.: Price of the NEX-FF body should be close to $3000….

Sigma to launch something BIG soon. Is it a new mirrorless system?

Sigma Poland launched a new countdown and thw slogan says “Destroy the system with Sigma, release is coming”. This sounds like something very BIG and the word “system” could refer to a new system camera. Many times Sigma stated they will not launch their own camera system. But of course this could have been part of the marketing strategy to hide their real goal. I would certainly like a System based on their DP lenses and Foveon sensor. I am curious if they will launch their own mount or join the MFT or NEX mount…
