Weird: Canon will not sell the new 11-22mm lens in USA?

Canon is really doing everything possible to NOT push their EOS-M system! According to the moderator of the Canon USA forum, the EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens will not ship and be sold in the US:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens. We can certainly understand the confusion surrounding this release! Unfortunately, this specific lens will not be sold or serviced by Canon USA.

What the heck???

X-M1 still too epxensive? X-A1 coming soon!

Fuji just released the new X-M1 which is the cheapest X interchangeable lens mount camera to date. But If you still think it’s too epxensive than guys…wait for the new X-A1!

Fujirumors reports that there will be soon a new X-A1 camera featuring a non X-trans sensor. And to save costs the camera will not be for sale in small stores but only in large or online stores. That’s quite an interesting new approach.

Four new NEX cameras to come? NEX-7/NEX-5 successor, low entry NEX and NEX-FF

Short udpate on the Sony NEX rumor front. There could be three new NEX camera within the next 2-3 months:

1) NEX-7 successor with updated 24MP sensor
2) NEX-5 successor
3) New kind of low entry NEX model (first of a new series)
4) NEX-FF photocamera

I am working on the specs of the single cameras right now. The biggets doubt I have is about the NEX-FF. I mean we (my sources) don’t know yet if Sony will annoucne the final camera or just introduce the new system roadmap.

Panasonic GX7 may look like this…

The dutch website Digifotopro found the pics of a possible new Panasonic GX camera design. These are grabbed from a patent. The new GX7 camera is likely coming in one month and will be the first “rangefinder” styled Panasonic camera. The cameras has as unique feature a tilting EVF. It’s great looking camera but I hope Panasonic will not ask you too much $$$ for it :(

Canon M and Ricoh GXR replacements likely coming soon…

Canon:
The current Canon EOS-M is the most sold mirrorless camera at Amazon US (Click here to see the ranking). The reason is that it sells for $299 only. But now Amazon has no more cameras left in Stock and also Adorama removed the camera from their database. I have no doubt that a new EOS-M will be announced within 1-2 months.

Ricoh:
The Ricoh GXR is no longer available at BHphoto (Click here). Also in that case a major new release is expected within 1-2 months.

Reminder: Most new mirrorless cameras will be announce din late August right before the IFA event in Berlin. So while we are in Summertime there is really no reason for vacation on rumor sites. The news storm will hit us all very soon!

New Olympus E-M1 and three more Fuji X cameras to come.

Olympus
It’s less than two months to go until the big announcement time by end August. There will be plenty of new mirrorless cameras coming right before the IFA show in Berlin. One of them is certainly the new Olympus OMD camera. For now rumored specs do say that it will retain the same sensor, same EVF and same form factor as the E-M5. But like the new E-P5 it will have 1/8000 shutter and Built-in WiFi. An interesting new fearure is the 81 AF points system which suggest that the 16MP sensor may contain some extra phase detection pixels. (Source: Photorumors).

Fuji
There are three more X cameras to come. One interchangeable entry level X camera (yes cheaper than the X-M1) and two fixed lens X cameras. One of them shoudl be the X-30 with a larger than 1 inche sensor and placed to compete against the new Sony RX100MII. (Source: Fujirumors).

Reminder:
Panasonic will announce the GX7, Sony the new NEX-7 successor. Everything coming in late August!
