It’s time for High Quality lenses: Sony Full Frame Zeiss and Olympus High End f/2.8 zoom.

High Quality Lenses are still rare to find in current mirrorless system. But soon this will change.

Sony:
Sony will launch four new Full Frame and one new APS-C E-mount lenses. Three FF lenses will be from Zeiss and one is a Sony G. The APS-C lens is the 16-70mm f/4.0 Zeiss that will be priced around $1,000. That lens will be announced along the NEX-5T on August 29 while the new Full Frame camera+lenses will be announced in late September (24?).

Olympus:
Olympus will also finally launch their brand new fast f/2.8 zoom. And it may be even a second zoom surprise but that has to be confirmed. The Olympus zoom is said to be of higher quality than the 12-35mm X lens from Panasonic.

Still no news from the Canon and Nikon front :(

You cannot go more smaller than that: Sony DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 lens-cameras leaked!

What you see here are the two Sony DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 lenses. But these lenses are unique. They have a built-in sensor (just like the Ricoh GR modules) and stream wirelessly the images on your mobile device. You can use them separately or attached on your smartphone.

Sony will soon launch two “lens-cameras”:
1) One is the “Lens-camera” with RX100MII sensor and Zeiss lens ($600 here on Amazon). On the pictures it is the bigger lens. As you know the RX100 is the most praised high end compact camera and features a large 1 inch sensor which is the same used by the Nikon 1 system. Now you can have that kind of Image Quality on your iPhone or Android Smartphone!
2) The second model will feature a 10xzoom lens with 1/2,3 inch 18 megapixel CMOS sensor (the image with the f/3,3-5.9 lens). It’s basically the same sensor and lens of the Sony WX150 ($400 on Amazon).

Price is yet not known but the devices should be announced on September 4! Is this the real Mirrorless future? One device to rule them (cameras and smartphone) all?

New NEX-5T and new 16-70mm E-mount lens coming soon.

Within this month Sony will announce a new NEX-5T and a new High Quality 16-70mm E-mount zoom lens. The NEX-5t will be only a slightly upgraded NEX-5r (same sensor and same EVF). The High Quality zoom lens will be “expensive”. It will cost a bit more than $1,000.

Regarding the NEX-FF. Rumors pointed out that Sony is preparing a very special event in late September for it. Everything is very secret…but we know it’s coming :)

Is the new E-M1 just an updated E-M5 with PDAF sensor?

The latest E-M1 specs leaked by photorumors suggests that the upcoming High End OMD may be a slightly updated E-M5 with PDAF sensor. It has the E-P5 specs, VF-4 viewfinder (integrated) and OMD design. The major news is the on sensor PDAF which will add 100% support on Four Thirds lenses. Will that be enough to compete in the $1500 market? Doubt it…

Again a Pentax Full Frame dream…

The current K-o1 mirrorless and K-mount APS-C camera.

The Chinese Fengniao editors interviewed the Ricoh head (source RiceHigh). And they once again confirmed that:

“Our development team is still working on it and the project is not aborted.”

Doens’t sound really promising when you say “is not aborted” :) That said a while ago an anonymous source told us this:

Pentax’s new fullframe “might” be a mirrorless, using a newly developed hybrid mount that accepts current K-mount lenses and adds the ability to use newer short flange lenses as well.

Now let’s see if something will happen. It’s about time after 5-6 years of Pentax FF rumors floating around the web :)
