The Fuji X lens roadmap! (Amazon lists the Fuji stuff but with no price)
Fuji announced the lens roadmap for 2012 and 2013. There are at least seven lenses coming and all zoom lenses will feature a built-in Image Stabilization system.
This are the lenses coming in 2012:
-14mm f/2.8
- 18-72mm f/4.0 with IS (Image stabilization).
This are the lenses coming in 2013
- 28mm f/2.8 pancake
- 23mm f/2.0
- 72-200mm f/4.0 IS
- 12-24mm f/4.0 IS
I think it’s a pretty interesting roadmap. But what’s missing are real fast lenses. Something like a fast portrait lens (50 or 60mm f/1.4). Meanwhile Amazon has the new Fuji X PRO camera and lenses on list but doesn’t mention the price like it happened when they leaked the stuff a couple of days ago:
Fuji X PRO 1 at Amazon (notification only).
Fuji 18mm lens at Amazon (notification only).
Fuji 35mm lens at Amazon (notification only).
Fuji 60mm lens at Amazon (notification only).

2 years ago |My ideal lens system for APS-C format would be 12mm, 18mm f2, 35 mm f1.4 and a macro (60-100mm). So Fuji are getting close to it, but the problem is that there is no super-wide lens until next year.
It’s a pity they couldn’t have a relatively compact super-wide lens (i.e. 11 or 12mm, f2.8 or f4), instead of the zoom, which duplicates focal lengths of two of the primes.

2 years ago |One look at that guy at the top of the page (can you say “marketing”?)…and I just COULD NOT play the video. Um…can we get this camera in the hands of a photographer and get a report, so we can find out if it is any good or not??????

2 years ago |First of all, Fuji deserves tremendous credit for producing a roadmap. Other manufacturers should follow Fuji’s lead!
Second, the roadmap looks really good overall. My biggest complaint is the standard zoom starting at 18mm rather than 16mm. A hopefully compact 14mm will make that more bearable though.
Third, I disagree with admin that a fast portrait lens is a big issue. Sure, a 70mm (or so) f/1.4 would be nice, but it would also be quite expensive. A less expensive f/1.8 or f/2 lens wouldn’t offer all that much gain over the 60mm f/2.4 macro they’re launching with. So while I hope it comes, I think Fuji is right to prioritize lenses on the roadmap.
IMO, Fuji’s priorities should be on fast AF and getting price down. Body + lens kit needs to be under $2000 and preferably under $1700, otherwise they’re running into FF price territory.

2 years ago |It would be nice to see faster lenses for the zooms, and it would be nice to see perhaps zeiss as a choice. With regard to the “Marketing” guy, perhaps one should consider business dress as a sign of respect to the public, a good thing. Although, the xpro 1 body does not seem to have the usual look for longer zooms, it would be nice to have the choice. And, perhaps a different camera body may be down the road more suited to dslr fans. Nice to have choices. The system minds me of my Contax G2, only better. Certainly the finder on the Fuji is light years better. So far I have found the focus speed to be quite usable and reasonably quick, and worrks reasonably in lower light, but have a lot more things to try it on, high iso seems world-class so far (just started using mine). It is not made for sports photographers, unless it is baseball, but overall I think new lenses as above are not a bad start.
