The biggest camera acution ever: Over 1,000 cameras in one single auction!
A collector from Alameda (California) just decided to sell his huge collection of film cameras that includes over 1,000 pieces! The full acution details can be seen on eBay (CLick here). And those are almost all fully working cameras from Canon, Nikon, Rollei, Yashica, Ricoh, Polaroids, Kodak, Fuji, Pentax, Petri, Pax, Mamiya, etc. Damn what a collection!

4 months ago |the dude has only fours pics of his junk, only four pics so you cant see what kind of junk it is. It would be be different if it was all leicas or zeiss stuff, but at the starting price of around 35 grand, the dude’s never going to sell that crap. It’ll be a good lesson for him, thats what he gets for wasting his money collecting cameras he didnt need and no one wants. Wont feel sorry for any idiot that buys that pile of turd.

4 months ago |this is what happens when someone hoardes cameras and puts more priority on the gear than the photos. folks like him go around buying up old crap back in the old film days so that even students couldnt afford a decent camera. Bet your ass thatt his guy wont be able to sell his pile of turd, and will have to “phantom bid” and buy back his own ebay junk under a different account with a different name just to make it seem as if someone actually bought that turd.

4 months ago |It is hard to tell if the seller is naive or careless. He acts like he was too lazy to inventory his collection, and that attitude comes through. He posted only 4 small pictures of the collection. Doesn’t he know that good photography is what makes a sale on ePrey, especially for old or antique equipment? Also, why didn’t he take closeups of the valuable items (Rolleiflex, Contax, Leica, etc.)? One of the photos shows a proud row of Argus C3 bricks – yuck. Very strange….

4 months ago |I think it will sell. Furthermore It’s probably not as junky as the other posters might think. 30 bucks per camera. Furthermore the listing says:”More detail information maybe provided upon a request. Pick up is most preferable way to finish up the transaction.” This is not the indication of someone trying to scam other people. He doesn’t list Leicas so there shouldn’t be none. I have a friend that buys vintage lenses in bulk, also without listings. He says it’s the best way to buy them, he then sells them one by one. Some people just dont care what they sell, for others it’s a great find.

4 months ago |This is very intriguing and, as others have said, frustrating. How could someone A. not have taken inventory of their collection over the years or B. not at least take an inventory when they decide to sell it? Or in the very least make a list of the most appealing/valuable cameras in the bunch? Without any of that knowledge, a buyer could wind up with a collection that’s literally worthless. Also, with no inventory what’s to prevent the guy from weeding out all of the expensive stuff before sending it off to you?
Still…$35,000 COULD be a steal for someone if the right items are in the collectsion (and I can’t be the only one who thinks this, as there’s already a bid). What if there are 35 M3s in there, each with a lens attached? Well…that’s highly unlikely, as you have to assume that this serious a collector would have enough of a clue to advertise those in the freaking description. But it is entirely possible that all of those cameras could average out to more than $50 each, which would mean a pretty decent profit for someone with the time and patience to sell them off one by one.

4 months ago |sell them one by one? look at how far that strategy got this seller. you cant even give away most film junk..let alone ask for 35k. bet you most the cameras ae broken and roach infested.

4 months ago |But who knows what the “junk” quotient is? Plenty of old film stuff still sells decently…anything Leica, the old Nikon and Canon rangefinders, many of the good fixed-lens rangefinder compacts, lots of MF setups, LF gear. Most of the old SLRs I can see in the photos are probably next to worthless, but there’s still a market for the lenses on them. I imagine this guy just doesn’t have the patience to go through one by one and just wants to say “screw it” and get it over with.
truer homer
4 months ago |well, with his FOUR pictures it’s safe to say he doesnt have any leica or zeiss or any decent rangefinders. Let the guy suffer for all his useless camera hoarding, people have to learn the hard way in life, cause ppl nowadays dont listen.

Maybe he needs money for retirement home now. Although now it doesn’t sound like much of a retirement plan looking back at it from this century.

4 months ago |It has one bid as of this posting. For 1000 cameras that works out to be about $35 a camera. I wouldn’t mind rummaging through that pile for a good Rolleiflex. And if anything there are a lot of spare parts there.
Hmmm...
4 months ago |The listing says there’s “1,000 pieces of cameras, lenses, and accessories” so there wouldn’t be 1,000 cameras.
