Samsung NX300 First Impressions (DPreview)
Samsung’s Android powered mirrorless camera got a hands-on at DPreview. Among other things, they write:
The NX300 features looks a lot like its predecessor, but beneath the surface it’s a very different camera. Like the NX210, the NX300 features a 20MP CMOS sensor, but this is a newly-developed unit which offers ‘hybrid’ autofocus consisting of 247 contrast-detection AF points and 105 phase-detection points which should provide much faster and more positive focus in favorable lighting conditions. The cameras we handled were pre-production units, so it’s impossible to make a definitive statement about their performance, but our first impressions are very good. Even in the relatively low light of a CES meeting room, focus with the 85mm F1.4 was fast and positive, with almost no ‘jitter’ – certainly a clear improvement on the solely contrast-detection system in earlier NX bodies and many competitive mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras.
I am really curios to see more reviews about this camera!

6 months ago |I went CES to see NX300 yesterday. It solved old NX issue, “Processing…” after continuous shots.
I couldn’t see “Processing…” message anymore after fast continuous shots. After continuous shots, old(?) NX camera shows “Processing…” message and locks getting any user input. User cannot change setting or take another shot.
But, NX300 can keep taking pictures when the buffer is filled. It just slow down just like other DSLRs. Just after taking continuous shots, user still can change settings and even take another continuous shots.
Also, I heard a rumor that NX300 is operated by Tizen not Android.

there are already a million of primes avialble for any mirrorless camera via mount adapters.

6 months ago |Hmm.. well, let’s put it this way then: I am undecided with what lens I would pair this camera. The 30mm comes very close, sharpness, focal length, size etc. OK, just doesn’t seem to offer a lot fun playing around with it’s bokeh… The 20mm: no real magic. The 16mm: nah. A 16mm would be nice though, if the performance was a bit more impressive.

6 months ago |Nothing can beat a manual focus lens and manual focus camera… your’e right. Leica is so good no one can make those kinds of cameras. the technology of making manual focus cameras and lenses are too hig tech for any one else to do it except leica. the 7-10 thousand dollar market for old digital rangefinders is so hot Leica is raking in Billions. If this keeps up, i’ll have to name my kids Leica, and Cron. Oh Canon, why cant you make manual focus stuff like leica!!?? WHY?!!! Tell me why you cant make lenses that are 3 percent better than everyone else and that are 300 percent more expensive, not 3 percent. Tell me Canon..WHY, WHY WHY?????????!!!!!!!!!!
