What’s next from Panasonic: GM7, Leica 100-400mm lens and later the GH5!

Pro3

There are a couple of highly reliable info about the future Panasonic MFT products:

  1. Panasonic next MFT camera will be announced in Spring. it’s the new GM7
  2. The Panasonic GH5 is coming at Photokina in September
  3. There will be a new 100-40mm Leica branded lens next Spring

What we still don’t know for certain but it’s highly likely to happen is also the launch of new fast prime lenses. No idea yet about the possible lens specs.

And my very personal dream: A Panasonic Full Frame 4K camera with the same Leica T-mount. I know this is not going to happen next year but maybe one day…

Three new “rangefinder styled” mirrorless cameras coming soon: Olympus Pen, X-PRO-2 and Sony A6xxx!

Fans of the classic rangefinder layout with integrated viewfinder in the corner will be happy to read the following rumors:

  1. Sony could announce the new A6xxx within the next 2-3 weeks! Of course the camera will have 4K and a new high-resolution viewfinder.
  2. Olympus will announce a new PEN with integrated EVF sometimes in early Spring.
  3. Fuji will launch the X-PRO 2 on January 15.

Which one are you considering to buy?

Note: I said those are “rangefinder styled” cameras. Not real 100% rangefinder like an M-mount camera. I guess that no company other than Leica will ever launch such a real rangefinder camera anymore.

The Tokina 100mm T2.9 Macro Telephoto Lens now comes for E-mount and MFT too.

Tokina will offer the 100mm Cine lens also in native E-mount and MFT mount version. Tokina writes:

“The newly designed Tokina Cinema AT-X 100mm T/2.9 macro telephoto is a true 35mm, full-frame, 1:1 macro close-up lens. Sporting a new look and design, the lens achieves maximum magnification at a working distance of 11.8 inches (0.3 meters). This allows enough space for lighting, the camera operator, and the subject to work comfortably.
The 100mm macro’s optical design is 4K ready, super sharp, high contrast, and exhibits very low distortion or chromatic aberrations. Focus breathing is incredibly well controlled and the lens has a de-clicked, 9-bladed, curved iris for beautiful bokeh and precise exposure control. The wide T-stop range, from T2.9 to T32, allows for maximum control of exposure and depth-of-field which is critical when working so close to your subject.”

Sony surprise announcement coming…

…we just heard that Sony has some surprising announcement coming. I am working on it to get details but there seems to be some E-mount “news”. And I am nto talking only about the rumored new FE lenses ;)

Mayflower: “Camera market collapse hasn’t reach it’s bottom yet”

Chart_Camera_Production_Rolling_Year

Latest CIPA data show that the 3 year long camera market collapsing may have reached the bottom of the bottle. So is there now some hope to see some growth again? The Mayflower agency analyzed the data and writes:

Using so-called 12 month rolling data* there seems to be at first sight a reassurance of the market. However, unfortunately, this is a misleading interpretation of reality. After transferring the CIPA data into local currencies using historical exchange rates , it becomes clear that the camera makers at best achieve stable average prices .

Damn, doesnt sound good if true!
