Nikon J2 and new lens leaked in all colors!

So, now we have the new J2 pics in Black red and White. As you see it has basically the exact same Nikon J1 design. CLick on the images below to open a new tab with the bigger image!

So far, there’s almost nothing new. New lens is smaller, but not a pancake and the omission of VR makes it worse choice than 10-30mm. Let’s see if camera specs are more interesting. Maybe Nikon put the sensor from RX100 in J2?

    What about the sensor???
Seems to be bigger and quadratic or octagonal???

  • JesperMP

Nikon 1 uses special PDAF elements in the sensor, so the Sony sensor would have to be adapted to that. I think it wont happen.
The sensor in Nikon 1 certainly needs an update. Its is not so impressing even when accounting for its relatively small size.
My guess: Nikon 1 sensor gets updated to a slightly higher resolution, and a slightly better noise performance. It will still trail behind RX100 but less so than before.

This is just a sad effort on Nikon’s part.

A company with such a long and illustrious photographic history that has many, many very smart people on staff should be able to do so much better than this warmed over mirrorless effort!

The sensor looks bigger and I don’t understand what MJr meant by behind the blue stuff. I think only Sigma has made something so useless as a filter in front of the sensor.

  • MJr

Sensor is behind the blue stuff. Can actually see the outline of it.
