New Tamron mirrorless patent: 50mm f/1.8.

Tamron still has to release some intruiguing mirrorless lens. And while we are patiently waiting for it let’s look at their latest patent that discloses a new APS-C lens for mirrorless systems. It’s a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens. Sounds a lot like a copy of the current Sony 50mm f/1.8 lens…

5 months ago |Why? The Sony 50 1.8 is not bad at all, focusing issues are mainly ‘cos of the bodies, so why copy a cheap, good lens? To leave out OSS and make it cheaper? I don’t think this would sell too good. Oh well, they could make it black after all …

5 months ago |Sony E50f1.8 is a crappy cheap lens , I replaced it with my AFS50mmf1.8G Nikon lens(via an adapter).
Just admit it there is no (absolutely none) great lens in E mount.

5 months ago |This does NOT look like the Sony E 50/1.8. It is not a copy.
This could be a better alternative to the cheap Sony E 50/1.8. I hope it has less plastic elements, compact and will enable on sensor PDAF, unlike the Sony lens. I also hope it comes in black color and not the plastic grey of the Sony E 50.

It will be bigger if it is just a Sony copy. And it sure won’t be $200…
They just bring out these variations from other mounts and play unknowing users for fools. Tamron always had a similar MO as Sigma.
It costs them more in marketing than it does for R/D.
The innovation is always in the hands of smaller companies. That later sell out to bi ones… :-/

5 months ago |Tamron is all washed up. they dont have the reputation they used to have light year ago. and if you can find any tamron lenses at your local store, its the crappy dust leak mega zooms and cheapo tele zooms. when i think of tamron ow, i think of plastic dust leak lenses.they need to get better or get out of the market altogether.

5 months ago |Most of their recent lenses (24-70 2.8 VC, 70-200 2.8 VC, 70-300 VC, 90mm Macro VC etc) have been well recieved and offer good alternatives to the manufacturers lenses for less money.

the 50mm Sony F1.8 is really that bad in terms of focus speed, i don’t think its the body issue, my kit lens and the two sigma focus faster than the 50mm.
