New retro styled Nikon fixed lens camera coming this week?

A Nikonrumors reader design (not the real rumred camera!).
Is Nikon going after the Fuji X100s? Nikonrumors reports that “Nikon will announce a new compact camera with 16.2 effective megapixels DX-sized CMOS sensor, fixed 28mm f/2.8 (or maybe even f/2.0) lens and EXPEED 2 image processing engine”

4 months ago |So Nikonrumor Readers wish Nikon to make a Fuji X100? Just buy a Fuji then

4 months ago |That’s exactly my thought: a black Fuji x100s! (Though the Voigty lens looks nice)

4 months ago |Maybe someone would get the Nikon version so they can edit their RAW files without getting a new RAW editor or changing their workflow. The little bit extra IQ you get from the Fuji may not be worth the hassle that entails.

4 months ago |Nice, but why would they use and old sensor and processor in a new camera???
Use the sensor and processor of the D5200!
28mm lens is real focal length of eq. in FF terms? If it’s real focal length and it has an f/2 aperture it might be a quite attractive camera.

4 months ago |No, not the sensor from the D5200. If it is anything like the Sony 24 MP sensor it will be terrible in the corners with rangefinder lenses. The 16.2 MP sensor is plenty, plus it could use phase detect AF like the X100s too. Looks nice if it is true. I would love Canon/Nikon to jump on the changes in the compact bandwagon before they miss their ride.

4 months ago |With rangefinder lenses?? This is a fixed lens camera, not an ILC. The lens should perform perfectly with whichever sensor it comes with.
I just wanted to point out that it’s strange that once Nikon has moved away from the old 16MP sensor and old EXPEED 2 processor, they would release a new camera using them. Actually it must be a mistake, at least in the processor side.
Eric Tastad
4 months ago |If it is bad with range finder lenses, who is to say it would be better with a fixed lens system? They are still going to have to overcome the same issues.

4 months ago |It doesn’t need to be bad in the corners with rangefinder lenses and certainly not with a fixed lens where offset microlenses and processing can be used to correct issues that’s not fixed with the optical design.

At best it will be Samsung-idea-retro design
at last
4 months ago |Wait a minute.. That’s not fixed lens.. It’s a full frame rangefinder and a hole new lens system.. WOW..Thank you Nikon!

4 months ago |If you read the story at Nikon rumors, they left the credit on the photo that states it is a for fun mockup that someone drew from a modified X100, don’t expect the Nikon to look anything like that.

Never ever trust a photo of the possible future camera seen on a rumor site

4 months ago |Enough with “retro” brick style. How about the world’s most ergonomic design? Or is that too difficult?

4 months ago |If anyone has seen Nikon’s recent “1″ camera, especially in white, they would recognize that Nikon have lost their marbles. LOL.
Retro? LOL!

4 months ago |So we would get either a 28mm lens equiv or a 41mm equiv. either way those are like two of the worst focal lengths
lorenzino
4 months ago |28mm equivalent.
Still waiting for a compact like this, but with a decent zoom…
Sigh…

4 months ago |Nikon 1 autofocus with a larger and better sensor would immediately vault this camera to the top of the mirrorless hill, IMO.
Lee
4 months ago |Where is it then ? Still no sign, it needs to be no longer than 35mm equivalent and well made otherwise it will disappear with the same level of “none event” that the Canon EOS M has.
Daniel
4 months ago |It’s looks like too much a Fuji X or Leica M camera, and not to the actual range of mirrorless cameras from Nikon !
