never have seen such ugly stylings as with this “pseudo (post-bauhaus)design” from Pentax.
plus the tiny sensor.. just looking as a new toy from leg…. (the danish toy maker..)
“who cares?” Obviously you don’t. Or you do, seeing how you take the time to write about it… Anyway, the design looks ok for the japanese market, they love these Gundam style things. And Pentax is still “relevant” in that market, so maybe they know what they are doing. For the rest of us… meh.
Looks neat, and I applaud Pentax for doing something different. There is a small market for interchangeable lens small sensor cameras, and the sensor seems pretty good for the size. At least they seemed to have put a much more reasonable price on the new model.
If Sony can make a small collapsible bright zoom for 1″ sensor Because it is slow and crud lens people buy it just because it is a sony. Pentax lenses have always been better then sony lenses. Sony make great camera but their lenses have always them down.
Err, I think you should likely go and actually have a bit of a look at the reviews and images coming out of the RX100 (which is the camera being talked about), you are looking a “bit” misinformed. Not saying the lens is fast on the long end, but it appears to be good quality.
Pentax have been making lenses for a long time and the high end pentax lenses have some of the best optics you can get. I have admit you pay a high price for them. I believe pentax should make lenses for other brands which would help them reduce the overall price. (economies of scale).

Mostly for the Japanese market anyway, they love these sort of things.
