New Olympus PEN, Panasonic GF, Samsung NX-30 and Sony NEX-3N on market in Spring.
According to anonymous sources a new Olympus PEN and a new Panasonic GF and a new Sony NEX-3N camera will be for sale in Spring. Exact announcement date and specs are yet unknown. While the Panasonic and Sony will be the new entry level mirrorless camera for their system the Olympus will be a semi pro (or advanced) mirrorless camera. And there will be a new NX30 from Samsung too!
This is more or less what we can expect to see within the next 1-2 months. Still no news form the Canon and Nikon front…

5 months ago |if this so called new pen comes out with a viewfinder it will be an omd that looks like a pen. i think olympus must think even suckers are retarded. the camera is going to cost aroun 1400, too expensive to make a dent and most ppl will be happy to buy a 700 dollar dslr with a free ovf. Thats the biggest problem with the m4 strategy, they take away the mirrors and charge you the same, stick an evf in it and charge you more than a camera with an ovf. the smaller form does not warrant 700 dollars more for a camera. Its something they [csc] makes REFUSE to accept, that most ppl arent idiots and will look at price FIRST. the market is getting more and more saturated with systems left and right, and sooner or later the consumer will suffer what is known as camera fatigue and slow down their buying.Comapnies like oly and panny may stp making system cameras and turn their mounts into fixed lens advanced ps cameras. Reputation is built by great products and hard work, not throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks…ala sony as well.

5 months ago |What are you talking about? The EM5 is less than $1000, about the same price or cheaper than other weather proof DSLR (D7000, 7D, K5 II), but none of those DSLRs have tilting OLED touchscreen, 5-axis IBIS, etc. So price reasonable actually. If that’s still to expensive, take a look at the Panasonic G5, which is $600 for the kit and it has an EVF and fully articulated touchscreen. The D5200 and T4i, which also have articulated screen, are more expensive.
Maybe you should spend more time researching before spewing some crap.

5 months ago |Rainbot, You must seriously have memory problems. When the em5 came out it was 1400 dollars…amd that’s before TAXES. go online back then and check. go on freindo,CHECK. WHEN THE NIKON V1 CAME OUT IT WAS ALMOST A GRAND, LAST I HEARD IT SOLD FOR 399. WHAT IS YOUR DAMN POINT, MR. SELECTIVE MEMORY? YOU THINK I WAS BORN YESTERDAY?
and dont compare a camera iwht a OVF to a EVF. dont compare apsc to m43 sensors, or have you not reliazed your em5 has a smaller sensor? You need to check that online as well? Oh what would most folks do, buy a d700 for 1400 lets say with a ovf, sapsc sensor, or spend the same amount on a em5 with evf battery drain , smaller sensor? HHmm? Oh wow, the em hs touch screen, so WHAT? the d700 has lots of things the em5 dont have too, Again, WHATS YOUR POINT BESIDES A M43 FANBOY CRYING RANT? you think because you spent 1400 on a m43 means that everyone should think like you and do the same? You tell me that someone would spend 1400 on a m43 and have less support and resale value then the stuff rather then to buy canikon and have better resale value and secuirty and performance? Oh, no, people should be like you, close their eyes and forget logic and just throw money away to m43 because in your world, m43 is the coolest thing and at the top of the market. Hey buddy, WAKE UP, their NOT. tjhose are FACTS. Everytime I respond to you I fell like Im talking to some child who cries and puts thier hands over their ears because they cant have it there way too. Face it, you think exactly the way m43 makers think, you think m43 is all that just because you BELIEVE it to be, you ignore hard facts and wish live on hope and less than objective comparisons. Your way of thinking is getting m43 NOWHERE, and all you do is chose to cry and sulk about it because you cant handle the truth.
But hey, dont take my word for it, just keep thinking the way you do, you and m43. Next year when the em6 comes out, maybe you guys can charge 2 grand for it and another 500 for a evf and then pretend and make believe how good it is and how much it is better than a dslr. Yeah, keep it up man, keep thinking that… that kind of thinking worked so well companies like minolta went into the shits.

5 months ago |You really are clueless. The EM5 was initially listed at 1299 with the 12-50mm lens, 1099 with the 14-42mm and 999 for the body. They’re cheaper now. I compared it to the D7000, 7D and K5/K5II because they’re weather sealed like the EM5. However, those DLSR were also listed more than the EM5 but lack a bunch of feature it has. Not only that, the EM5′s AF is blazing fast and has 9fps burst.
In terms of sensor area size, the m4/3 is 68% of standard APS-C (Sony/Nikon/Pentax) and 60% of APS-C of Canon – not a big difference. But, APS-C of Canon is only 38% of FF – a big difference! If look at the DxO score of EM5 (as well as EPM2, EPL5), it beats all APS-C Canon DSLR/mirrorless. The current m4/3 from Olympus is on par with the best of APS-C, like Sony.
As for OVF, what’s so good about the one on entry level DSLRs? They are small, dim and don’t cover 100%. All EVFs on current mirrorless cameras are large, bright and have 100% coverage. Not only that, they show actual exposure, including WB, and provide photographic aids, like histogram and grids. No OVF can do that. Don’t get me wrong, I do like using OVF from time to time, but only on my 35mm film camera and FF DSLRs that I’ve borrowed.
Call me a fanboy if you wish, but I’ve used Canon for years and almost got a D7000/K5 at some point. I sold off my Canon stuff after using m4/3. I hated the fact that Canon only ever made 1 EF-S lens, and none of their EF-S lenses are faster than f/2.8. Nikon is better with their DX, but barely. They really want you to buy their FF stuff. OTOH, there are many lenses from Panasonic and Olympus for m4/3. The flash support is good too. Multi-flash wireless with TTL support is standard on all Olympus bodies!
Considering many factors (performance, lens selection, ergonomics, size, flash, support, price, and so on), the EM5 is the probably the best of the mirrorless and definitely better than a bunch of those boring DSLRs. It was even voted best camera of 2012 on Dpreview, even beating (though barely) D800.
You need to grow up and stop your hating on particular brands and systems. They’re just electronics, why get so angry. You think you know stuff but really don’t. I feel sorry for your parents.

5 months ago |sinestro… wow came by to make my own comment ,,,, but will run with your instead
yes its time for theem to get real and stop milking the mirrorless market
the optical complexity of mirrors and prisms is not easy ….makers have an easy out in the evf ….they are playing it like a fiddle and using it as a cash cow
all micro 43 glass should be half the cost. or less of full frame , but they have evolved the paradigm so far that a m4\3 45mm 1.8 sold for 400 dollars seems an incredible bargain even as canikon 50mm 1.8 essentially the same lens, but with much larger optical elements ,4 time s the size!!! turn profit at between a hundred and a hundred 50 ….. what gives here
i hate being manipulated

5 months ago |cosinaphile, you have a true business mind, because i can tell you have a thing many folks here dont have, and that is LOGIC. All this m43 fanboyism is starting to piss me off, and i dont even use dslrs anymore. The day evfs will be equal to ovf is the day that evf has absolutley no battery rain, no refresh problems, no lag, no jello, no noise.
When Canon and nikon started over half a century ago , and built the Jpanaese camera industry into what it is today, they started out by copying leica cameras and slowly modifying them to make it better and better. If you check the prices then they did not even dare charge the same amount as Leica. Today, they make state of the rt cameras and can charge pretty much what they want and what most an afford. M43 , thinks for some reason they can charge Canon and Nikon prices, and this includes Sony as well.
The only difference beteen a m43 camer and a dslr is that m43 camera is basically a dslr , minus the mirror , smaller body and smaller sensor, that is ALL. But oh no, m43 faboys will tell you its not, that is somehow better and more special, and that evfs are better, and that by removing the mirro you should pay just as much as one with a mirrobox.
I dont know about these m43 fanboys but int he logical world, when i get less stuff, i should pay less, not the same or more. m43 and Sony would like folks like us to close our eyes and open our wallets like a bunch of 5 year olds…but i cant back that up because i dont think even 5 year olds would pay more for less.
Maybe folks like us are getting older and unlike these younger kids, we know when we are been ripped off. I get a feeling these m43 kids forgot what happened the aps film system cameras way back when.
lol
5 months ago |So much coffee! Here I go wasting my time again. I maintain my original point. You are an Psycho! Got some serious anger problems with camera choices hun? What is funny is that you seem to think your completely logical.
Let me try to drill some points into that nutshell.
Here repeat after me “some people like apples and some people like oranges there is NO RIGHT OR WRONG.” Or a good deal for that matter. Some would pay a premium for SIZE! And you need to get over it! General rule about electronics is smaller size equals higher prices! that goes for the camera body and the lenses.
There are many advantages to EVF and it will only get better and better. OVF will always be an optional add on for old schools which is kewl. Again just individual preferences, you can not say one is better than the other from third person point of view.
And I suspect!! Your angst driven rant comes from the need to know you somehow have the “best system”. Truth is they all got their merits. I speak from experience since I own the OMD, GX1, NEx-5n, Xe-1, x100, A77, D600 at least 3 primes for each system. Will do some consolidation later this year, all of them can go expect the Sony and Fuji to be honest. M4/3 is loosing their appeal since they are getting bigger and bigger. Rx100 killed the micro in m4/3. Traditional DSLR and SLT can and will easily be replaced by the full frame NEX due out this year. But I digress. Point is it is a waste of time debating over preference and that you are a Psycho.
