5 months ago |Please M. Fuji a XE-1 with the Digital Split Image manual focus aid, and my dreams of a Digital cheap Leica M become true.

Even if it’s missing phase detection, it opens future possible improvement for the next generations cams… Lot of enthusiast and non-professional M user’s are fed up to wait for a decent and “affordable” M alternative (~1500 $), I personally still using the epson RD1 which was the first and last attempt to do so 9 years ago !

5 months ago |You won’t get the digital split on your x-e1 because of the missing of phase detection.
Maybe focus peaking but definetly no digital split!
So I think you have to dream on

5 months ago |I guess the split image implementation is not fake. It really sees double using the pdaf sensors.
IMO the focusing “screen” is a bit to large. It will be interesting to see how it will cope with finer adjustments. Since its black and white and all…
IMO a small green focus box with focus confirmation beep or light is just as good. At least a good complement to peaking and split screen.

5 months ago |I feel bad for anyone that just got the XE1 since this camera addresses two of the biggest complaints with the X system, the poor AF and peaking for MF. I want the XE1 – because I’m planning on switching from Canon to the X-mount and its fantastic lenses with real aperture rings, but decided to wait since it seems to take about 6 months after they start shipping for Fuji to sort out all the issues. Now I’ll pick up the x100s and wait for the XE2 to get the new sensor, split focusing, better AF and focus peaking to use with my legacy lenses.

5 months ago |I agree with you…I was considering getting the X-E1, but now I am definitely going to wait for the new sensor and features to be introduced in a future X-Series camera with interchangeable lenses. They really should have introduced these features in the X-E1…
