Sigma E-mount and MFT lenses are discounted. New ART versions are coming!

The discounted Sigma lenses at BHphoto.
You may have noticed that all current Sigma lenses for the NEX and MFT systems are discounted? In USA you can get both lenses for the price of one at BHphoto (Click here). And in Europe the price is down to 99 Euro like for example in Germany at Technikdirekt or on eBay (via Slidoo). And you know why these deals are running all over the world? Easy answer, Sigma will soon announce a new version of these lenses!
And the very interesting news is that these lenses will be high quality ART lenses! The word “ART” stays for the high quality photographer prime lenses. They are designed to be high quality alternative of other companies lenses but at the same time priced much lower than the competition. Sigma launched the first ART lens for Canon/Nikon/Sony a couple of months ago. it is the 35mm f/1.4 lens (here at Amazon) that got plenty of positive reviews like at SLRgear (Click here) and Photographyblog (Click here).
I have no exact announcement date but stay tuned on MR, I will hopefully find it out soon! P.S.: Yep, price will be higher than the current lenses!

5 months ago |That was a short life fro them. Good riddance.
Slow and oddball FL are meant for the past uneducated consumer. Hopefully we are going full circle where consumers know that cheap is not the real answer and manufacturers offer them a real alternative.

5 months ago |The 30mm 2.8 was one of the sharpest lenses available for these two mounts AND it had fast AF AND it was dirt cheap. What was your issue with it?

5 months ago |i am sorry to rain on peoples parade but I think those of you who are waiting for an optically different lens are going to be disappointed. i think the new ART lenses are going to be ” better made” with a different build but not a new formula

5 months ago |^@ Harold Glit, the ART series lens has the capability to hook up to a dock as well, for more fine tuning, look up on the web about this dock.
hopefully, it will be faster. and 49mm filter for the NEX mount, so the diameter stays uniform, kind of : )

5 months ago |oh, i am still very happy with both of my 19mm & 30mm. i seriously hope Sigma can make a 24mm F2.0 or faster for those who can’t afford the Zeiss.I just want something in 35mm equivalent

5 months ago |This is great news for Nex-cameras, but not so great for MFT. MFT loses the size advantage for lenses, beacause 3rd-parties will design the lenses for bigest available mount.

fmj
5 months ago |thats becoz Sigma made it for their APSC camera, they probably just swap the mount to milk $ of the MFT user.

5 months ago |I shoot m/43 and bought the lenses for a pair of EP-2 cameras, I like the focal lengths, feel just right for my use. I have several m/43 bodies and like to keep a lens on each one.
