Leica Monochrome reviews roundup…
Today we talk a bit about the Leica Monochrome. Yes, this is a post for reach people only
First of all BHphoto (Click here) reports that the $7,950.00 Monochrome will start to ship from August 28th. Focus Numerique posted a Leica Monochrome review by Alexander Maller: “The images are impressive. There are many, many, many details from what I know with film. The sharpness is excellent and the images are searched and really beautiful especially in the small details like hair, skin.“.

Now really, who of you guys preordered that camera? I can’t wait to see a FF mirrorless for $3,000. That’s what I want!

11 months ago |By the way, this highlight clipping makes me realize something: In most digital cameras white is never really white, but just a light gray. This is because of the highlight protection, it works well for actual highlights, but it does not allow white to be white.
The Leica M Monochrom does the oposite, clips highlights easily, but white is actually white.

11 months ago |Once upon a time ……… I travelled with two camera housings. One for B&W, one for color. Today, owning a D800 that has similar resolution as the Leica Monochrome, I am not sure I need that.
-Well, aside the fact that Leica lenses are superior to the competition. But I am not rich enough anyway.

9 months ago |After downloading a bunch of DNG Monochrom files, it is clear that Leica may have a serious defect with this camera in the highlight clipping.
The tonal transition in the clipping area is harsh and ugly. No amount of post processing can return info where none exists. I question The dynamic range of this camera.
I had one on order but cancelled after working on the DNG files.
